Carolina Hurricanes to WIN Game 1 & Win the series (-110)…(4%)

The Hurricanes may have had some tough luck around the trade deadline — acquiring Mikko Rantanen only to lose him shortly after when he announced he wouldn’t re-sign, while also parting ways with Martin Nečas in the deal. Despite that mid-season drama, this is still a well-oiled, veteran-built team with deep playoff experience.
Ironically, the moment they moved past the Rantanen situation, Carolina caught fire. They went on a 9-2 run in their first 11 games after the deadline, looking focused, energized, and dialed in.
For the Devils, the major storyline heading into this series is health — or a lack thereof. Injuries have plagued them all year, whether it’s been in goal, on the blue line, or most importantly, to superstar forward Jack Hughes, who will miss the entire postseason. Losing your top-line centerman — a dynamic playmaker and the heartbeat of the team — is devastating, and the Devils are showing it. They've limped into the playoffs, both in form and physically.
While the Hurricanes weren’t able to retain Nečas or Rantanen, they made two very smart pickups: Taylor Hall from Chicago and Logan Stankoven from Dallas. Both have made immediate impacts — especially Hall, who has slotted in as the first-line right winger and added a veteran presence with scoring touch.
This is a classic contrast: a battle-tested Hurricanes squad versus a banged-up, inexperienced Devils team missing their most important player.
The regular season series was tied 2-2, but since their last meeting, the gap has widened. Carolina has posted the 4th-best point percentage in the East down the stretch, while New Jersey owns the 4th-worst. Form matters in the playoffs — and the Hurricanes are trending up.
Rather than paying the full juice on Carolina to win the series outright, I prefer the Game 1 + Series combo at -110 (DraftKings). You’re getting a better number and backing a red-hot team to carry their momentum into the opening game and beyond.
