We're taking Hamzah Sheeraz to beat Carlos Adames in their WBC middleweight world title matchup on Saturday, February 22nd.
Rapid Breakdown
- Hamzah Sheeraz, the new breakout UK star in the middleweight division, will get his first legitimate world title shot on Saturday as he takes on the dangerous Carlos Adames.
- Adames got promoted to full WBC champion after Jermall Charlo was finally stripped last year, and only has one very questionable loss on his resume to date against Patrick Teixeira. However, a lot of Adames record is littered with big names, yet past their sell by-date fighters, such as Terrell Gausha, Julian Williams, and Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Sheeraz will present a far more dangerous dynamic for Adames in this one.
- Bar a tougher than expected fight against Bradley Skeete just over three years ago in the UK, Hamzah Sheeraz has looked almost flawless since then, with just one of his last seven opponents since the Skeete fight even managing to see the second half of the fight. That one fighter who did, Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams, was completely outboxed both from range and inside, with Sheeraz managing to land almost an equal number of jabs and powers shots throughout on Williams (64/70), while Williams was basically hitting nothing but air on the opposite side leading to the eventual stoppage (Williams landed just 3.7% of his jabs, 14.5% overall).
