Just one point separates both Watford and Blackburn heading into Match Day 9 as both sides look to place themselves firmly in the promotion playoff race in the Championship this season.
After a hot start, Watford has hit something of a stumbling block over recent games, winning just one of their last five overall, and are winless on the road this season.
Blackburn has not fared much better putting up just one win over their last five games with back-to-back defeats now at home as well.
Watford has won each of their last three head-to-heads against Blackburn, including their last one in this venue back in February of last year with a 3-2 victory at Ewood Park.
Poor Starts Proving Disastrous For Hornets
While Watford manager Rob Edwards will no doubt be pleased with the fact Watford has only lost one game so far during this campaign, he’ll certainly be less enthusiastic about Watford’s starts to games this year.
The Hornets have conceded the opening goal to opponents within the first 20 minutes in four of their last five league starts, and that lack of focus at the start of matches is proving disastrous for Watford in terms of winning games of late.
Blackburn’s Leaky Backline
Only two teams in the Championship have given up more goals at the back this season than Blackburn have, and manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has been quick to point out that Blackburn simply aren’t making life difficult enough for opposing offenses this year.
Blackburn has kept just one clean sheet at home over their last nine Championship games in all and will need that to change considerably if they’re going to make a serious playoff push this season.

We’re expecting an incredibly close, hard-fought encounter here on Tuesday between two teams looking to turn their fortunes around in the Championship.
