World Cup Group C Predictions & Odds to Win the Group

World Cup Group C Predictions are fraught with peril, but we’re giving it a confident shot! World Cup Group C pits north/south continental rivals Mexico and Argentina head-to-head against each other with both Poland and Saudi Arabia firmly in the mix as well.

Mexico will still likely remember the Maxi Rodriguez wonder goal that sent them crashing out of the 2006 World Cup in extra time, and Argentina enters this year’s competition in equally scintillating form.

World Cup Group C Predictions – Argentina The Massive Favorite

Argentina captured the recent Copa America tournament against fierce rivals Brazil in their own backyard, and is currently on course to break Italy’s record unbeaten streak in international football as well. It’s no surprise therefore to see the Argentinians installed as one of the tournament favorites to lift the trophy this year.

At odds of -225, Argentina is the book’s favorite to top the group, with both Poland and Mexico coming in at second and third spot, priced at +400 and +450 respectively in what’s expected to be a tight battle between the two nations. Saudi Arabia makes up the final spot in the group coming back at a mammoth +2500 to claim top position.

Argentina World Cup Preview – Betting Pick To Advance?

Since taking over full-time duties in charge of the Argentinian national team at the end of 2018, it’s fair to say Lionel Scaloni’s time as boss has been a resounding success.

A third-place finish in his inaugural Copa America back in 2019 was eclipsed just two years later with Argentina winning the trophy outright for the first time in 28 years. Confidence will no doubt be sky-high for the Albiceleste ahead of this tournament.

With an almost 70-percent win record over his time in charge, the longest undefeated streak in world football right now, and, one of the greatest players to ever grace a pitch in captain Lionel Messi as well in what will undoubtedly be his final hurrah at a major World Cup finals, all the stars look to be aligned for Argentina to make a deep run in this competition as they enter as deserved group favorites in Group C.

Poland World Cup Preview – You’re Saying There’s a Chance?

Robert Lewandowski, one of the most formidable strikers in all of Europe over the last decade, is likely eyeing what will be his final World Cup appearance after coming up short back in 2018.

The Barcelona forward started three games as captain for the national side in that competition, in what was arguably the zenith of his powers as well.

Unfortunately, however, Poland not only finished bottom of the group in that competition, Lewandowski also drew a scoring blank across all three games as well, something Poland will look to correct this time around.

The positive for Poland ahead of this tournament is that they are arguably stronger this time around than they were four years ago, with Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski now playing at the peak of his powers, Robert Lewandowski still ranking as one of Europe’s premier strikers and younger players such as Aston Villa’s Matty Cash coming through the ranks as well making Poland a real contender to qualify from this group.

World Cup Group C Predictions

Mexico World Cup Preview

Mexico used to be a shoo-in to qualify for every World Cup final, but with the rapid improvements made to teams like Canada, Costa Rica and Panama over recent years, Mexico has endured a tougher time of it of late and finished second in its CONCACAF qualifying group behind Canada.

While this edition of Mexico’s national squad might not enjoy the quality of years past, they have the talent level to make life difficult for any team in this group. Players such as Wolves’ Raul Jiminez, Sevilla’s Jesus Corona and the experienced Hector Herrera are still competing at a very high level.

This will be the final international tournament for manager Gerardo Martino, which may cast some question marks on the effectiveness of this Mexican team overall, with the Mexican Soccer Federation seemingly already in 2026 rebuild mode.

Despite that, Mexico should pose problems in this group, and with a defense that allowed just 0.57 goals per game in qualifying along with shutting out each of their last five opponents, they should present a real problem for the stars of both Argentina and Poland to break down in this group.

Saudi Arabia World Cup Preview

Despite their lowly status in this group overall, Saudi Arabia enjoyed a rock-solid qualification campaign, finishing ahead of both Japan and Australia to book their automatic spot to the finals.

Paramount to that success was Al Hilal forward Saleh Al-Shehri who netted 33-percent of the team’s goals in the third round of qualifying to top the group, and manager Herve Renard will hope his striker is on top form again ahead of this tournament.

The main issue for Saudi Arabia, however, will be the drastic jump up in quality. Almost all of Saudi Arabia’s players ply their trade domestically and the Green Falcons were shut out twice against both Russia and Uruguay back in 2018’s World Cup as well. Things likely won’t get any easier for them this time around either as they face an even stiffer test in the shape of Argentina and Poland respectively.

World Cup Group C Predictions

Argentina is rightly considered one of the tournament favorites and the two-time World Cup winners should have no real issue navigating this group in first place and finishing top.

Second place is much trickier however and while Poland can be dangerous in attack, putting multiple goals past Sweden, Wales, and the Netherlands to kick off 2022, they face a resolute defense in Mexico that will look to grind out results in this group. Advancement will all come down to whether or not they can stop Poland’s offense in a critical head-to-head matchup on November 22nd that will likely determine who joins Argentina in the next round of the competition.

The World Cup Group C Pick – The Two to Advance Are…

We’re siding with Poland however, as we believe they’ve strengthened since four years ago while Mexico have arguably regressed, so take the straight forecast prop of Argentina/Poland to finish first and second respectively in Group C at odds of +188 for this year’s World Cup tournament.
