Phoenix Suns vs Golden State Warriors Analysis

The Golden State Warriors will travel to Phoenix to face the Suns on Tuesday evening from the from the Footprint Center. The Suns led wire-to-wire in a 112-95 road victory against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

While the Warriors won a 130-125 shootout at home against the Sacramento Kings. This will be the first of four head-to-head games in the season series they split 2-2 last season. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST as this will becthe back half of the Tuesday night doubleheader.

Paul Hits Career Milestone In Win Over Former Team

The Phoenix Suns improved to 2-1 to start the 2022-23 campaign after beating the Los Angeles Clippers 112-95. Chris Paul became the 3rd player in NBA history to record 11,000 career assists, only John Stockton and Jason Kidd have dropped more dimes.

Paul has struggled with his shooting thus far but has a team leading 10.7 assists per game. Devin Booker continued to light the scoreboard on fire with 35 points on 13 of 21 from the field and 5 from 9 from beyond the arc.

It’s been an up and down start for Phoenix after a tumultuous off-season and inconsistent pre-season. The Suns currently rank 20th in the league in scoring with 110 points a game. The defense has been the catalyst as they rank 4th with only 104.3 points allowed per game.

Curry Continues To Carry Warriors

Steph Curry scored a game high 33 points in a 130-125 home victory over the Sacramento Kings. Curry has actually led the team in scoring in all three games with 33 & 34 points in the other two contests.

Not surprisingly Kevon Looney led the team in rebounds with 8, surprisingly he led them in assists with 6. Andrew has also gotten off to a hot start with 22.3 points and a team high 6.3 rebounds a game.

Draymond Green leads the team in assists with 6 assists a game. Most of the Warriors minutes are down due to a long playoff run last season, coming into this season out of shape and participating in two blowouts.

Golden State hasn’t had any trouble scoring as they rank 2nd in the NBA with 125.3 points a game. However their defensive numbers could use some improvement as they rank 24th with 120.7 points allowed per game. This will be the first time the Warriors go on the road this season.

Phoenix Suns vs Golden State Warriors Prediction

The Phoenix Suns are 2.5 point home favorites with a total of 224.5. Both teams have had similar paths so far this season, being led by their superstar.

Devin Booker and Steph Curry have both cruised past their point totals in all three of their games respectively. Both of their points totals are also set at 26.5 tonight. The big difference between the two is the Suns have been playing great defense while the Warriors are giving up points by the boatload.

Head coach Steve Kerr said his players would be on a minutes restriction for the first couple weeks of the season. He has stuck to this and limited his players to about 30 minutes each.

This means the premiere defenders aren’t playing their full workload either, which could account for the defensive lapses. Booker has been lights out as Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton have struggled to find their shooting touch. Let’s take a shot on Booker over 26.5 points.
