Georgia vs Ohio State Betting Prediction :  Game Analysis

Needless to say Ohio State was gifted a College Football Playoff spot by the Utah Utes when they knocked off then #4 USC in the Pac 12 Championship. That loss pushed the Trojans out of the College Football Playoff all together and allowed that slot to be filled by then #5 Ohio State.

They’ll have a tough matchup in the second College Football Playoff game on December 31st taking on undefeated Georgia who knocked off LSU in the SEC Championship 50-30.Those 50 points were the second most the Bulldogs have scored in a game this season as they ramp up to defend their National Championship.

The Bulldogs head in as 6.5-point favorites so let’s see if they can get past the Buckeyes and back to the National Championship game in decisive fashion

Georgia vs Ohio State Prediction : Ohio State Must Find Rushing Attack

Ohio State was clobbered on their home turf against arch rival Michigan 45-23 and many thought they didn’t deserve this spot with both Alabama and Tennessee salivating to get the #4 spot as well. Luckily for Ohio State, that loss to Michigan was only their first where the Crimson Tide and Volunteers each have two losses this season.

C.J. Stroud is out to prove doubters wrong as he was in the drivers seat at one point to win the Heisman Trophy but since his less than impressive showing against Michigan has fallen back in that race. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has produced six games with 100+ receiving yards totaling 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.

Stroud has a serious shot to get to 40 passing touchdowns this season with 37 so far this season which is tied for first among all FBS quarterbacks. Their rushing game seems to be in disarray as leading rusher against Michigan was converted linebacker Chip Trayanum who totaled 83 yards on 14 carries.

Other running backs/ wide receivers Miyan Williams, Xavier Johnson and Dallan Hayden combined for only 65 yards on 12 carries.

Georgia Gouging Up Competition

Georgia heads in as the juggernaut we have all come to expect. They only allow 12.8 points per game (2nd nationally), 77 yards rushing per game (1st nationally) and 292 yards total per game (9th nationally). Stetson Bennett has once again been the solid, mistake free quarterback he was last season totaling 3,425 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Their rushing attack has been on points specifically Kenny McIntosh and Deijun Edwards who have combined for 1,390 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground. Georgia’s receiving is headed by tight end Brock Bowers totaling 726 yards on 52 catches and six touchdowns. He’s also added three rushing touchdowns as well as they’re not afraid to utilize him in various formations, lining up in various spots on the line of scrimmage before plays.

Outside of a couple hiccups in road games against Missouri (W 26-22) and Kentucky (W 19-9), this Bulldogs team has been flawless. Which should be influencing the Georgia vs Ohio State prediction, right?

Georgia vs Ohio State Prediction – The Ultimate Betting Pick

With no other SEC team in the College Football Playoff, Georgia may chuckle at the competition and why shouldn’t they?
They’ve played a tougher schedule than any team in the College Football Playoff outscoring their opponents by 27 points per game.

With the Buckeyes running game in a state of flux they look to be one dimensional making it even easier for Georgia to cover the 6.5-point spread. Also, even though it’s a neutral field game, Georgia will likely have some sort of “home field advantage” with this game taking place in Atlanta. Hurry and get on this line before it moves to 7 or 7.5 even though I still think the Bulldogs cover that.

So, ready for the Georgia vs Ohio State prediction and betting pick?  Here it is!  It’s Georgia and it’s a spread betting pick!

Prediction: Georgia Bulldogs -6.5 (Good with up to -8.5)
