Los Angeles Clippers vs Boston Celtics Predictions
- Los Angeles Clippers -3 vs Boston Celtics
- Total: 212.5 Points
- The Clippers are 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games.
- The Celtics are 4-1 against the spread in the second leg of back-to-back games this season.
The Boston Celtics will play their second game in as many nights at the Staples Center against the Clippers on Wednesday night. After the Celtics lost 117-102 to the Lakers on Tuesday night, both they and the Clippers have the exact same record at 13-12. Meanwhile the Clippers are coming off a 102-90 victory over the Trailblazers in Portland on Monday night. This will be the first of two meetings between these two inter-conference teams. The Celtics have won the last 3 games, however they have split the last 10 head-to-head matchups.
The Los Angeles Clippers have surprisingly kept their head above water so far without their superstar Kawhi Leonard. However if you look closely, the Clippers haven’t had a signature win yet this season. The Clippers have beaten some of worst teams in the NBA and none of the contenders were at full strength. The Lakers were without Lebron James, the Mavs without Luka Doncic and the Heat without Jimmy Butler.
The Clips may also be running out of steam as they have lost 4 of their last 6 games. Offensively the Clippers rank 20th in points with 105.7 a game. The Clippers have really stepped it up defensively as they allow the 4th least points a game and are the 3rd in defensive rating. Paul George has obviously been this teams leader with an average of 25 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.
The Boston Celtics are coming off a disappointing loss as they came out flat in the 2nd half against the Los Angeles Lakers. It was surprising after they posted 130+ points in the first two games of this 5 game West Coast road trip. Boston was again without Jaylen Brown as he was continues to work his way back from a hamstring injury. Jayson Tatum continues to do it all with 25.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists a game.
The Celts are 10th in defensive rating, while averaging 108.6 points a game, good for 13th in the association. After this game the Celtics will head to Phoenix to complete the road trip against the Suns.
The Celtics are 13-10-1 against the spread on the season, while the Clippers are 11-14. Boston favors a slow pace of play that ranks 21st in the league while the Clippers are 10th. The Clippers are favored by 3 points with a total of 212.5 points. The Clippers are playing solid perimeter defense and Celtics could have tired legs on the 2nd game of a back-to-back. I envision a defensive battle here, so we will make under 212.5 our official play. Eric Bledsoe has been in a horrible slump. He’s now coming off the bench and his minutes are down over the last 4 games. Bledsoe has scored 8, 8, 0 and 4 points in those 4 games. His point total is usually set around 8.5. We will confidently back the under on this one.
Official Play: UNDER 212.5
Official Player Prop: Eric Bledsoe Under 8.5 points

Los Angeles Clippers vs Boston Celtics Analysis from The GoldSheet
Boston definitely brought some energy to the Staples Center (not crypto.com until Christmas!) last night but it was the Lakers that scored a 117-102 victory to gain a split on the season with their historical rivals. Now the Celtics must bounce back against a struggling Clipper side that’s dropped 8 of its last 11 spread decisions, a period during which Paul George’s crew has had a power outage, ranking 27th in offensive efficiency.
Celtics have a shot at possibly regaining G Jaylen Brown (21 ppg, 5.2 rpg) for at least some minutes in this one, as he sat out against the Lakers but might be ready to test his hamstring. Clipper leader Paul George is shooting just 39% in his last 10 games, and G Reggie Jackson only 40% in the last 11. Celtics are 4-1 vs. the number in 2nd of back-to-back games this season. Play the under.
