Anaheim Ducks vs New Jersey Devils Betting Analysis
The New Jersey Devils seem to be getting things back on track after a miserable December and the fact they have won each of their last four road games also is a testament to that.
The Anaheim Ducks meanwhile are coming off two heavy losses at home against the Bruins and Oilers respectively where they gave up 13 goals combined over that two-game stretch and will no doubt be looking to tighten things up defensively here.
The Devils and Ducks have faced each other once already this season with the Devils winning 4-2 in New Jersey back on October 18th.
However, the Ducks have had the better of it in Anaheim over recent years, winning six of their last seven meetings here against the Devils.
Devils Looking For a 2023 Rebound
The New Jersey Devils will no doubt feel relieved to have finally strung two wins together for the first time since December 6th, and beat two solid teams in which to do that in the Rangers and Hurricanes respectively.
That puts the Devils just four points back from the Hurricanes in the Metropolitan Division and almost neck and neck with them defensively also, with both teams ranking 1 & 2 on shots allowed and defensive xGA this season.
Defense Huge Priority For Ducks
After allowing a mammoth 175 goals on the season so far and 13 across just their last two starts as well, defense has to be priority #1 for Ducks coach Dallas Eakins moving forward.
Anaheim is the only team allowing over 4 goals per game on average this season and they have by far the worst defensive xGA in the league also.
With John Gibson and Anthony Stolarz underperforming in nets this year as well, it doesn’t appear like an easy fix for Eakins either.
Anaheim Ducks vs New Jersey Devils Prediction
Even with all the Devils recent woes in LA, combined with the fact they haven’t won three straight games in the league since November 28th, the only way we could look in this one is towards taking New Jersey on Friday.
There’s such an absolutely massive gulf between where these two teams are at right now, especially in data terms, it’s hard to look past anything other than a comprehensive Devils win in this one.
Take the New Jersey Devils to win in regulation on Friday (-170) as they take on the Anaheim Ducks in LA.
