Vancouver Canucks vs Calgary Flames Betting Analysis
The Calgary Flames have improved their playoff chances considerably over the last week, sitting on just under 20% across the weekend, those odds have now risen to 30% after securing back-to-back victories against the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings respectively.
They’ll look to improve those odds even further on Friday as they face a team in the Vancouver Canucks who have enjoyed a solid last month themselves, winning ten of their last 13 games overall, including six of their last seven at home also.
These two teams sit on one win apiece in the series so far this year. However, both of those games were in Calgary, with Vancouver hosting not only Friday’s game, but again next Saturday as well.
With the home team winning six of the last eight meetings in this series, that could give the Canucks the advantage in this one.
Favorable Schedule Leaves Calgary’s Fate In Their Own Hands
Jacob Markstrom, who’s struggled on the season as a whole, has really found another gear across recent games which has seen the Calgary Flames re-ignite their playoff chances as a result.
An extremely favorable remaining schedule for the Flames which sees them face five sub-.500 teams across their final seven games of the season, effectively leaves a large part of Calgary’s fate in their own hands as they push for that final wild-card spot.
Missing Playoffs Hasn’t Dampened Vancouver’s Finishing
It’s not too often a team ranks 24th in total shots, yet 11th in offensive scoring as the Vancouver Canucks have enjoyed a remarkable strike rate in front of goal this season.
The Canucks rank top five in the league this year on shot conversion percentage and an even higher 2nd on high-danger conversion percentage also, showing how dangerous they’ve been in front of nets this season.

The disappointment of missing yet another playoffs may be starting to set in for Vancouver here and with the way the Calgary Flames have been playing of late, driving towards gaining that final post-season berth, we’d rather be on the Flames than opposing them here.
While Markstrom did struggle across January and February, he’s had a much better March and has posted a 2.43 GA/G average against the Vancouver Canucks this season also.
