Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers Betting Analysis
Both the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche have booked their place into this season’s playoffs and will look to go into the postseason hot, by closing out their last couple of regular season games with wins.
The Avalanche play their next two games at home against the Oilers and Winnipeg Jets respectively before a final road trip to Nashville on Friday to close out the season.
The Oilers meanwhile have one game less to play, returning home to face San Jose on Thursday night after Tuesday’s visit to Colorado.
This will be the third and final meeting between the two sides this season after Colorado won both of the previous meetings earlier in the year, albeit two games that went into OT. The Oilers have gone 0-6 however in their last six visits to Colorado.
Oilers Continuing To Do Damage Up Front
It’s been a fantastic season for the Edmonton Oilers this year in front of goals as they’ve pretty much dominated the league in every facet of attack, ranking #1 in scoring offense (3.98 GPG), #1 in shot conversion percentage (11.87%), and #1 in offensive power plays this season also (87 PPG).
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have continued to be the forerunners of that explosive offense putting up a combined 115 goals and 160 assists between them.
Experience Guiding Colorado Over The Line
Last season’s Stanley Cup winners have been an interesting team to follow this season, not standing out in any one particular area, 11th on scoring offense, 15th on opponent shots against, 13th on defensive xGA for example, but their experience has been vital for them in getting over the line in games this year.
That was no more evident than in Sunday’s win over the Anaheim Ducks where, after dominating the game early, the Avalanche let the game completely slip away from them and were forced to rally back and eventually win the game in OT.
However, while the method may have been sloppy, Colorado have nevertheless continued to show a remarkable ability to grind out positive results in games this season.
Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers Expert Prediction
The Avalanche will face their third game in four nights on Tuesday while Edmonton have played just one game in the last six days, a comfortable 6-1 blowout of the San Jose Sharks over the weekend, so they should be far more rested ahead of this one.
That said, even with a lack of rest and a poor performance in their last game against the Anaheim Ducks, anytime we’re going to be getting the Colorado Avalanche at home at a plus-money price is usually always the way we’re going to look in a game, and that will be no different in this one on Tuesday.
Colorado have shown an incredible ability to grind out wins this season, even if the performances aren’t necessariliy there, and have owned the Oilers in this venue across recent meetings, so at the current price of even money, we’re happy to side with the home dog in this one for small stakes on Tuesday.
