Real Madrid face Getafe this weekend over at the Bernabeu in a game perfectly sandwiched between two mammoth Champions League semi-final matchups against Manchester City in midweek.

The first leg between those two ended 1-1 on Tuesday night in Spain in a fascinating matchup which saw Los Blancos take the early lead through a well-worked Vinicius Junior effort before Manchester City were able to strike back with a long-range effort from their midfield talisman Kevin De Bruyne to level the game.

That sets up a huge matchup over in Manchester for Wednesday night so Carlo Ancelloti will no doubt look to rotate his squad heavily ahead of this weekend’s clash against Getafe.

That said, Madrid have been absolutely streets ahead of struggling Getafe all season, averaging a massive 2.28 xG advantage over Getafe based on home/road form splits, and 1.75 actual goals per game over them as well.

This is a must win game for Getafe on Saturday as they currently sit mired in the relegation zone and face a Real Madrid side with relatively little to play for, even being overtaken for 2nd place last weekend by capital rivals Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid will field a largely backup squad this weekend, unmotivated in terms of needing results also, but those players will still want to impress on Saturday, and even at second-string, Madrid are clearly the better side playing at home here.

We’ll take Real Madrid on Saturday to get the home win and cover at a discounted price against Getafe.

Celta Vigo vs Valencia | Sunday, May 14 | 8:00am ET

Celta Vigo seem to have taken their foot off the gas somewhat over recent games, losing 3-1 away to Villarreal two weeks ago and then suffering another poor result against relegation battling Getafe last week as well.

They’ll face yet another relegation battling team this weekend in Valencia also, a team who have slipped back into the mire once again after looking like they were finally back on track posting back-to-back wins to close out April.

At home, Celta Vigo have proven incredibly difficult to beat this calendar year, with only Mallorca and Atletico Madrid being able to get maximum points against Celta Vigo inside the Estadio de Balaidos in 2023.

Unfortunately for Valencia, they just aren’t in that same bracket, with their only league road win across 2023 coming against bottom-of-the-table Elche three weeks ago, a game they got badly outmatched in in terms of overall possession and dangerous attacks as well.

This is must-win territory for Valencia on Sunday as they battle both Getafe and Espanyol immediately below them in order to stay out of the drop zone. However, that could arguably have been applied to every game they’ve had over the last six weeks and yet Valencia have continually managed to find ways to come up short in games, especially away from home.

We’re happy to side with the home team Celta Vigo in this one getting a big plus money price to win outright on Sunday against Valencia.

Real Betis vs Rayo Vallecano | Monday, May 15 | 3:00pm ET

Monday night clash over in LaLiga sees Rayo Vallecano take on Real Betis with both teams coming in off some really inconsistent league form across recent months.

Betis especially have dropped off significantly from where they were earlier in the season, ranking top four in the league back at the start of November, only to then come back from the World Cup break and look incredibly over-valued, ranking bottom half in the league since March 1st and an even worse 3rd from bottom in expected points gained since January 1st also.

Rayo Vallecano have followed a similar trajectory to their hosts this year, not generating the same types of results in 2023 as they enjoyed to close out 2022, although not anywhere near as much as their hosts either.

Betis however finally showed some life again last week with a huge road win against a very good Athletic Bilbao team up in the Basque country, and will no doubt want to build on that here again with so much on the line for them in terms of holding onto that final Europa League spot.

Despite their struggles across 2023 as a whole, Real Betis are the better team here and we expect them to prove that by putting back-to-back wins together for the first time since February, with another home victory against Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
