Padres vs Nationals Expert Betting Advice
This will be the first of two series between these teams during the 2023 campaign, they will meet again in San Diego in late June. The Padres won the season series 4-3 in 2022, going 2-1 at home and 2-2 in Washington.
The Nationals will be wrapping up a six game homestand after winning two of three against the Detroit Tigers this weekend, while San Diego is kicking off a nine-game road trip.
Both teams are ice cold as San Diego has lost 11 of their last 13 games while Washington has lost 6 of their last 10 games. It’s amazing that these teams stack up so evenly thus far considering the difference in talent on paper.
The best pitcher in this entire series has to be Yu Darvish and the Padres bullpen is dynamite. Make a small play on the Padres money line for Game 1, but don’t push it with the run line as the Padres have struggled to produce runs.
We also avoid the Nationals great numbers against left-handed pitching, as they see southpaws in Games 2 & 3. Snell has been in brutal shape, walking too many batters and allowing too many home runs.
However, we also want to avoid that stellar Padres pen so take the Nationals in the first five of Game 3. I would also look Joey Meneses way on his over total bases in that game as he is 3-6 against Snell.
