NRFI Prediction 1: Guardians vs Pirates (-111)

The Pirates send Rich Hill to the mound today against a Guardians team that has pummeled Pittsburgh so far this series.

The Guardians bat .236 against lefties compared to .258 against righties with Hill not allowing a first inning run in five straight starts and 14 of 19 total starts on the season.

Cleveland sends a revitalized Aaron Civale to the mound only allowing three earned runs in his last three starts (18 IP). He hasn’t allowed a first inning run in nine of 10 total starts on the season including five straight as well.

The Pirates haven’t scored in the first inning in five straight and are on a free fall losing in all five of those matchups as well now sitting dead last in the NL Central. This game starts up early at 12:35 so play on a Guardians vs Pirates NRFI with odds listed at -111.

NRFI Prediction 2: Marlins vs Cardinals (-106)

We turn to the reliable Marlins when it comes to a NRFI play today as they take on the Cardinals looking to avoid the sweep in St. Louis.

Miami sends Sandy Alcantara to the mound who despite his 3-8 record and 4.64 ERA has allowed no runs in the first inning in 16 of 19 total starts on the season including his last three.

This will be the last regular season meeting between these two with the Cardinals not scoring a single first inning run in the first six head-to-head matchups.

The first two games of this series have gone to a NRFI with the Cardinals sending Dakota Hudson to the mound. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last 4.2 innings pitched and has a chance to exact some revenge on the Marlins as they’re the only team that has scored against him on the season.

Hudson will likely only last 2-3 innings with the Marlins being the third worst first inning scoring team when playing on the road. Play on a Marlins vs Cardinals NRFI today at -106 with first pitch at 2:15pm ET.
