Home Run Prop Prediction 1: Yordan Alvarez (+300)

Seven of the 20 total hits Marlins starter Johnny Cueto has given up on the season have been home runs as he gets an Astros team looking to rebound from a win that got away from them in last night’s 5-1 loss to Miami.

Let’s look for Yordan Alvarez to hit a home run tonight as he’s due for one soon. He only has four total since returning from injury on July 26th but 14 of his 21 total have come on the road in 16 less at-bats than he’s taken at home.

Cueto has given up five home runs over his last three starts against the Tigers, Phillies and Reds. Only Cincinnati sits in top half of the MLB in total team home runs hit on the season.

He allows lefties to bat slightly better than righties on the season as the Miami righty also sports a 6.16 home ERA allowing five of his seven total home runs at LoanDepot Park as well.

Take Alvarez to hit a home run tonight at +300 with other Astros hitters to consider are Kyle Tucker (+430) and Chas McCormick (+560).

Home Run Prop Prediction 2: Matt Olson (+255)

The Yankees could be in some trouble tonight sending a shaky Luis Severino to the mound who has given up at least one home run in his last seven starts.

Over his last three starts he’s pitched 9.1 innings while giving up a whopping 18 earned runs during that time. He sports a 9.89 road ERA while letting opposing batters to hit .373 away from Yankee Stadium.

Sure it’s low hanging fruit to go with Matt Olson but it seems more of a possibility than not that he hits a home run tonight.

Severino allows lefties to bat .373 with a .701 slugging percentage along with 10 of his 18 total home runs given up. Olson bats .293 at home compared to .260 on the road and has hit 34 of his 43 home runs against right handed pitching.

We’re not even half way through August and he already has seven home runs which is only four away from his season high for a month in 2023.

Take the MLB leader in home runs this season, Olson to hit another tonight at +255, but if you want better odds in this enticing matchup, Eddie Rosario (+500) or Michael Harris II (+560) are solid options to hit a home run tonight as well.
