Falcons vs Texans Prediction: Texans Football Preview
Who had the Texans being one of the most exciting teams this season on their bingo card? We knew C.J. Stroud had all the tools to be a good NFL QB, but he is miles ahead in his development and looks like a star in the making.
Stroud only completed 53% of his passes, but he avoided any sacks, had two touchdowns, and did not turn the football over.
Stroud made great decisions and throws when he needed to, and he led the Texans to 30 points against a stout Steelers defense.
Speaking of defense, DeMeco Ryans and the Texans defense deserve a ton of credit. They did not allow a touchdown, held PIT to 12 first downs and 225 yards, got three sacks, and forced a turnover. The Texans need to be taken seriously at 2-2 with two big wins under their belt.
Falcons Football Preview
After three straight solid efforts to begin their season, the Falcons laid an egg in London. We knew Desmond Ridder was limited, but he looked flat-out terrible in London.
He threw two interceptions that were awful throws, he was sacked four times, and he lost a fumble. Our prior notions about this Atlanta team were confirmed the last two weeks: if the Falcons are losing, Ridder is not good enough of a passer to get this team back into the game.
They could not do it against a mediocre Lions defense and looked even worse against a worse Jaguars defense.
Atlanta hosts the red-hot Texans this Sunday, and this game could go either way. Atlanta’s defense deserves credit for how they have played all season, and if they can take advantage of Stroud and establish the run against this poor run defense of Houston, Ridder will not have to participate in this game.
On the other hand, if Stroud can get Houston out to a hot start, the Texans have shown that they are competitive defensively and can certainly hold Desmond Ridder down.
Falcons vs Texans Prediction: The PICK
Atlanta opened as a 2.5-point home favorite, and the line makes sense. At first glance, a great way to play this game would be to tease up the Texans to +8.5, considering the total is 41 points – Houston could be a great advantage teaser leg.
This game was bet down to Atlanta -1, further confirming how this game is a toss-up. The Texans are 2-2 SU and 2-2 ATS.
The Falcons are 2-2 SU and 2-2 ATS. Houston is 3-2 SU and ATS in their L5 meetings with Atlanta, though this is the first meeting with different coaches and QBs.
Those games went 3-2 to the over. Houston is 6-3 ATS in their L9 games, but they are 5-15 SU in their L20 games. Atlanta is 4-11 ATS in their L15 games.
