ZOZO Championship Betting Preview
The Zozo Championship features a field of only 78 with no cut as all competitors are guaranteed four rounds this week.
This is the 5th edition of this tournament and the 4th being contested at Narashino so plenty in the field now have some experience on the track including last year’s winner, Keegan Bradley, who has finished no worse than T13 in three starts here.
Narashino CC is a unique par-70 with a front nine 34 and back nine 36 as the course features five par 3s and three par 5s. The overall length comes in at just over 7,000 yards, so length off the tee is not vital this week, although if you can keep it straight, it never hurts.
Rough is expected to measure at 3.5” to start the week so avoiding it will be a must, and overall, the course plays tougher than some of the recent tournaments we have seen as last year’s winning score came in at 15-under.
That score may be tough to reach this year considering expected gusty winds over the first two days before calming down for the weekend.

Temperatures will also drop on the weekend and may not even reach 70 degrees. Knowing the field will be dealing with wind, that always put a premium on ball-striking, especially irons, so take a deep look at recent SG Approach numbers.
Being in Japan, the course does not feature ShotLink, so there is no Strokes Gained data at this venue. However, we can look to previous winners to help lay the groundwork to winning here.
Tiger Woods and Hideki Matsuyama are both elite iron players, with the latter leading the field in greens in regulation. Mastuyama also finished second in scrambling as the greens have proven harder to hit than most stops on Tour.
Finally, because the event is taking place in Japan, pay attention to the starting times. Local time is 13 hours ahead of Eastern Time in the US, so first tee time will be around 8:00pm on Wednesday evening in the States.
ZOZO Championship Outright Winner: Cam Davis +2200 (DraftKings, PointsBet or BetMGM)
From Nick Borrman:
Davis is close and it just feels like a win is coming soon. Cam has five Top-10 finishes over his last six starts including last week in Las Vegas where he finished T7, following a solo 3rd in his other start this year at the Fortinet.
Davis hits it a long way off the tee so he has consistently gained strokes in that category all year, but he has been quietly good with his approach and short game as well.
His worst stat line on the season has been putting, ranking 117th on Tour, but over his last six starts, he has gained strokes putting in five of them and has been especially strong over his last two starts gaining an average of 1.26 strokes per round.
Davis has already qualified for all the Signature Events in 2024 so he doesn’t have that added pressure this week, instead, just solely focus on winning the tournament.
ZOZO Championship Finish Position: Vincent Norrman Top-10 +330 | Top-20 +150 (BetMGM)
Unless you are a golf nut like me, you may have missed that Norrman won for the second time in two months at the Irish Open on the DP World Tour at the beginning of September.
That field included the likes of Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Min Woo Lee and a couple of other recent winners in Ryan Fox and Matthieu Pavon, so certainly not short on talent.
Previously, Norrman won the Barbasol Championship which we were lucky enough to cash an Outright ticket on. He also has three other Top-25 finishes in his last nine starts.
Norrman hits it a long way off the tee, and like Cam Davis, he has been gaining strokes on approach as well and has shown recent hot flashes with the flat stick.
This will be Norrman’s first start here but he has already won twice without a previous trip around the course, so no reason to think he can’t do it again.
Next week is break in TOUR action, so see you in two weeks for the World Wide Technology Championship!
