Luton at Burnley Premier League Prediction

Relegation six-pointer in the EPL on Friday night over at Turf Moor as Luton takes on Burnley in what is primed to be a pivotal matchup at the bottom of the table.

Both teams come off losing efforts last time out against Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively but acquitted themselves well in those games, with both teams losing via the exact same 3-2 scoreline as well.

Defense has been a major concern for both teams all season, with Luton allowing an average of 1.95 GAPG to opponents, while Burnley has been even worse at the back, allowing an average of 2.05 GAPG, both poor enough stats to rank them both bottom three in the league overall defensively.

However, in terms of scoring, it’s been a much different matter as Luton has found the back of the net in all but one of their previous six league road games, while Burnley put five goals past another relegation candidate in Sheffield United last month also.

Despite the obvious pressure of not wanting to lose to your immediate rivals at the bottom of the table, both teams have shown enough of an attacking style, and are poor enough at the back, that both should find the back of the net in this one on Friday, and we’re backing the Both Teams to Score – Yes prop to get to the window in this one.

Premier League Prediction: Both Teams to Score – Yes (-130)

Manchester City at Newcastle | January 13 | 12:30pm ET

Manchester City -175 | Newcastle +455 | Draw +340

Manchester City at Newcastle Premier League Prediction

Manchester City will look to get back into title contention on Saturday as they take on Newcastle over at St. James’ Park.

City, who currently sit five points off Liverpool at the top of the table with a game in hand, have struggled of late, with some really dismal home form especially that has seen them win just one of their last four Premier League starts overall inside the Etihad.

To be fair though, City’s away form hasn’t exactly been stellar either of late, dropping points in four of their last seven road starts overall, so manager Pep Guardiola will no doubt have been frantically trying to get his team back into form over the recent New Year’s break.

What has no doubt helped in that endeavor however was the return of elite midfielder Kevin De Bruyne back into the lineup last weekend for an FA Cup game against Huddersfield Town, with last season’s Premier League assists leader already back doing what he does best, providing Jeremy Doku an opportunity to run one in against Huddersfield in last week’s game.

He’ll no doubt continue to be on limited minutes again this week after that damaging torn hamstring that had him sidelined for months, but his presence, even on the bench, should provide a huge lift for City as a whole.

Newcastle meanwhile have lost three straight games in the Premier League heading into Saturday’s matchup, getting softly overturned by two teams near the bottom of the table as well in Luton and Nottingham Forest respectively, so it’s difficult to make a case for them getting anything from this game on Saturday, even at home, and especially against a resurging Manchester City side who are looking to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool at the top of the table.

Look for City to get the outright win here on Saturday, with a significant boost in the odds if they start that ascent early also by taking them on the HT/FT line (Manchester to be leading at half-time and winning at full-time).

That’s something they’ve done in four of their last five starts overall and we’ll back them to do it once again against Newcastle this weekend.

Premier League Prediction: HT/FT – Manchester City (+140)

Aston Villa at Everton | January 14 | 9:00am ET

Aston Villa +140 | Everton +185 | Draw +255

Aston Villa at Everton Premier League Prediction

Two teams that looked to be flying high just a few short weeks ago have seemed to hit a bit of a proverbial brick wall of late, but will look to get back on track on Sunday afternoon when they face each other over at Goodison Park.

For Everton, they went on a run of four straight wins across early December, only losing one game in total inside regulation from the end of October up until Christmas Eve, a loss they might have avoided against Tottenham also had Dominic Calvert-Lewin not had his second-half goal disallowed.

Since then however, it’s been a winless run of three straight games for the Toffees, two of them coming as outright defeats also, as they look to avoid getting sucked back into the relegation dogfight happening immediately beneath them with another loss in this one.

Aston Villa have also hit something of a speedbump across recent weeks, winning just one of their last three Premier League starts overall, a win in which they needed an extremely late penalty to see them past second-from-bottom Burnley after suffering an epic collapse against Manchester United in the game immediately prior.

Aston Villa does own an extremely solid league record against Everton across recent seasons however, winning all of their last five meetings since 2021.

What’s even more impressive is the fact that Everton have failed to score a single goal against Aston Villa across that timeframe either, with their one solitary goal in that five game series coming from a Lucas Digne own goal in August of last year.

We’re backing the Villains to continue that trend here on Sunday with another shutout victory over the Toffees.

Premier League Prediction: Aston Villa to Win to Nil (+340)
