Eagles Strengths and Weaknesses
Philadelphia Eagles Strengths:
The Eagles remain able to put up points, and have pretty good run-pass balance. The 3rd down offensive conversion ratio is still very strong at 48%.
Philadelphia Eagles Weaknesses:
Both the sack ratio (43-39) and the points scored-allowed ratio were modest, especially for an 11-6 team. The pass defense let them down at times, and they allowed nearly 500 more pass yards as compared to what they achieved offensively. QB Hurts had more turnovers this year, leading to a very poor turnover ratio of -11.
Bucs Strengths and Weaknesses
Tampa Bay Bucs Strengths:
Baker Mayfield had 28 passing TD’s, something most people felt would not happen. Points allowed were kept low (19.1). 48 defensive sacks is a very nice achievement. WR Evans continues to excel (1,255-15.9 per catch, 13 TD’s).
Tampa Bay Bucs Weaknesses:
The run game was poor (3.4 per carry). RB While got better in the 2nd half of the season, but was still below league average in his last seven games (4.05 per carry).
The pass defense continues to allow plenty of completions (66.1%). This was another playoff team that gave up more 1st downs than they achieved (-37). Tampa was only 4-4 at home.
Eagles vs Bucs Prediction: The PICK
Player health for Philadelphia will need to be monitored. The Eagles have both WR’s banged up, and there’s a gap in WR talent after the top two. QB Hurts had a severe finger issue week 18 and that’s another concern.
Philly smoked Tampa (at Tampa) 25-11, way back on September 25th. The Eagles ran for 201 yards and passed for another 277, winning the overall yardage battle 478-187. A.J. Brown caught nine passes for 131 yards.
Based strictly on my Power Numbers, Tampa Bay +3 is something to consider.
