NHL Player Props Predictions 1: Auston Matthews, Maple Leafs Anytime Goal Scorer (-110) DK
We recommended Auston Matthews as an anytime goal scorer yesterday in a dream matchup against his hometown team the Arizona Coyotes and it paid off as he scored two goals in a 6-3 victory.
Tonight’s matchup is much more challenging as the Vegas Knights rank 6th in goals allowed with only 2.79 per game.
However, Matthews is on a historic run with goals in each of his last four games (9 during that span) and 9 of his last 11 games.
He’s also been lights out on the road with a goal in each of his last five games, 8 of his last 9 games and 9 of his last 13 games.
No surprise, Matthews leads the NHL with 51 goals, and he’s scored in 61% of his road games compared to only 50% at home. The Knights also rank 21st in shots on goal and 27th in shot attempts so the opportunities should be there.
NHL Player Props Predictions 2: Wyatt Johnston, Stars OVER 2.5 Shots on Goal (-125) DK
Dallas Stars center Wyatt Johnston is averaging 2.4 shots on goal per game while only recording 3+ shots on goal in 28 of 57 games for a 49% success rate.
However, Johnston prefers takeout as he’s cleared this mark at a 52% rate on the road this season. He’s been even better recently with 3+ shots on goal in 8 of his last 10 games while averaging 3.5 shots on 6.2 attempts.
Johnston has also cleared this total in 2 of 3 head-to-head games against the Ottawa Senators while averaging 2.3 shots on 4.0 attempts.
No surprise, the one game he fell short was a home game at American Airlines Arena. The Senators also rank 19th in shots on goal allowed with 30.26 per game.
The Stars are -170 favorites on the money-line with a total set high at 6.5 so Johnston should see plenty of opportunities to record 3+ shots on goal.
