Bahrain Grand Prix Track: Bahrain International Circuit

This is a 5.4 km track with three DRS detection zones and they will run 57 laps. Red Bull dominated this race last year with their straight-line speed as they easily finished 1-2.

There are several great corners to overtake, but with the long stretches, I expect most of the passing will be on the straights in the DRS zones.

Bahrain Grand Prix: Testing Takeaways

Red Bull squashed any doubts about their dominance as Verstappen dusted the field in single lap speed while running 391 laps combined.

If teams were thinking Red Bull was going to take a step back, they are surely disappointed as Red Bull may be even stronger this year than in 2023.

Ferrari looked solid as well as they were open about massive improvements on tyre degradation, and Mercedes had a positive attitude after testing, but admitted they aren’t ready to challenge for wins.

There wasn’t a lot of noise from McLaren in testing, but I expect them to be really good at some tracks, and to fall behind Ferrari and maybe Mercedes at other tracks.

Aston Martin will probably run behind Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes and it’s tough to see who will run right behind them as RB has encouraging signs, but have said don’t look for big gains until mid season. Alpine struggled in testing so we might have to temper expectations for them to start the year.

Bahrain Grand Prix Manufacturer Winner Prediction

-It’s hard to see anyone else besides Verstappen winning this race as he dominated last year and looks to be the cream of the crop again. He is -275 to win this race so you’ll have to parlay him with something.

–Mercedes Double Top 6 at -165 looks to be a solid wager. Mercedes didn’t have reliability issues, and as long as they stay out of accidents I suspect they’ll both run in the top 6 for the whole race.

Red Bull and Ferrari should be in there as well so the only competition would be from McLaren and I’m not sold they’re ready to start the season in the top 6 based on some of the issues that had in testing.

The winning Margin between 5-10 seconds is +170 and has my attention. Verstappen won this race by just under 12 seconds last year over his teammate, and I expect the same 1-2 finish this year, but I think they run fairly close to each other ahead of everyone else.

There’s no reason to push their engines super hard in this race so it might be follow the leader towards the end with Max winning by a comfortable margin, but not by a huge blowout.
