Luton vs Nottingham Forest | March 16 | 11:00am ET
Luton +170 | Nottingham Forest +150 | Draw +260
Short slate of games over in the EPL this weekend as the FA Cup is in full swing, but a pivotal relegation game remains between Nottingham Forest and Luton Town this Saturday.
Luton are currently embroiled in an extended six-game winless run in the league, while Nottingham Forest haven’t been a whole lot better, registering just one win over their last eight, so a tight game is expected down at Kenilworth Road this weekend.
Despite both teams’ precarious positions in the league table ahead of Saturday’s game, that hasn’t stopped either team from being entertaining to watch this season, with 79% of Luton Town’s home games this year witnessing both teams finding the back of the net, as well as 57% of Nottingham Forest’s road games also.
When we extrapolate that data to look at individual halves in particular, we can see not only a 4% increase in second-half scoring in Nottingham Forest’s games this year, but also a Luton Town side that owns the #1 rank in terms of second-half BTTS percentage this season at a whopping 56% on average.
We’ll go for the big price in this one and look for both teams to find the back of the net in the second half on Saturday.
Premier League Prediction: 2H – Both Teams to Score – Yes (+175)
Fulham vs Tottenham | March 16 | 1:30pm ET
Fulham +225 | Tottenham +105 | Draw +290
Tottenham will look to build off of a 4-0 trouncing of Aston Villa last weekend with Spurs now moving to within two points of Aston Villa in the table with an extra game in hand.
Therefore another win here on Saturday would see them leapfrog Villa for that pivotal Champions League spot in 4th, a fantastic achievement for what is manager Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge of the club, and especially so after losing Harry Kane in the summer as well as suffering a number of first-team injuries across the current campaign also.
That victory however will be no easy task as Fulham own one of the Premier League’s better home records this year, ranking 8th overall in home form, and have lost just one of their last five EPL games at home also, a 2-1 loss to Villa in a game in which they arguably deserved to get a result from based on balance of play.
More importantly however, Fulham own the league’s strongest home-field advantage this season inside Craven Cottage, with a 30% bump in goals scored, as well as an even bigger 32% jump in defensive goals allowed also from their numbers accumulated on the road this season.
Whether that will be enough to hold back a Tottenham side in this one that remains the only side in the Premier League this season yet to register a single scoring blank in front of goals, netting in all of their 27 fixtures to date this year, is another question however, but Fulham have nevertheless been stoic in games at home this season, especially early on, and could provide a real litmus test for Spurs here on Saturday.
No player has registered more clean sheets at home this season than Fulham’s GK Bernd Leno, with only the big three of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City conceding fewer total goals at home this year than Fulham have also.
Take the outright draw at the half in a spot we expect the Cottagers to be stubborn in this weekend.
Premier League Prediction: 1H Draw (+146)
West Ham vs Aston Villa | March 17 | 10:00am ET
West Ham +180 | Aston Villa +135 | Draw +270
Aston Villa will look to rally from a disappointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham last weekend as they try and hold on to 4th spot from their London rivals.
Standing in their way of achieving that on Sunday is a West Ham side that are in some good form right now, losing just one of their last nine Premier League home games overall.
Both teams have extremely important games on deck coming up in midweek in the Europa League and Europa Conference League respectively which obviously take priority here, so this game could well see the benches being used extensively this weekend, providing even more uncertainty as to where the value lies in this game.
That said, Aston Villa away from home this season have been nowhere the same beast as they have been at home, averaging a pretty sizeable 18% drop-off in goals scored than what they’ve managed in Birmingham this year, a percentage drop that could prove pivotal ahead of their trip to London this weekend to face the Hammers.
On top of that, West Ham have absolutely owned this fixture at home across recent seasons as well, not having lost in East London to the Villains across any competition going back to 2011.
Take the Hammers to get something from Sunday’s game over in the English capital against Aston Villa.
Premier League Prediction: West Ham +0.25 (-125)
