Best Home Run Prop Bets – MLB Free HR Props Picks
Josh Bell (MIA) +675
Nothing is going right for the Marlins to start the season. The Fish are winless, but they have a shot to change that tonight against Lance Lynn and the Cardinals. Josh Bell, one of Miami’s trade acquisitions from last season, is one of the best home run prop bets to make tonight.
Bell is home run-less this season and is only batting .231, but this is the best matchup he’s had to hit one out all season long. Four of his six hits this season have come batting lefty against righties, and this afternoon, he faces a righty who gives up a ton of long balls to lefties.
Lance Lynn, St. Louis’ starter, allowed a league-leading 24 home runs to left-handed batters last season. Fourteen of those home runs to lefties came off of his four-seem fastball. Last season, Josh Bell slugged .559 off of four-seemers with a 51.5% hard-hit rate. Bell hit 14 home runs off righties last season.
Considering Bell’s ability to jump on fastballs and Lance Lynn’s inability to keep left-handed batters in the yard, Josh Bell makes for one of the best home run prop bets on the board tonight.
Lane Thomas (WAS) +575
Lane Thomas has yet to hit a home run this season, but he has a great matchup to do so, making him one of the best home run prop bets tonight. Thomas is much better against left-handed pitching, and today, he faces a lefty who gives up a lot of home runs to righties.
Martin Perez is starting for the Pirates today in Washington. Last season, Perez allowed 17 home runs to right-handed batters. He allowed most of his home runs on his cutter and his sinker last season.
Thomas hit nine home runs off of lefties last season in 178 at-bats, and his ISO and wRC+ were both higher against left-handed pitching. This season, Thomas has two hits, and one of them came off a lefty.
Thomas’ ability to hit lefties and Perez’s propensity to allow home runs to righties makes Thomas one of the best home run prop bets to make today.
