Deportivo Alaves vs Getafe | Saturday May 18 | 3:00pm ET

Deportivo Alaves +105 | Getafe +305 | Draw +220

Deportivo Alaves vs Getafe | Saturday May 18 | 3:00pm ET

Saturday’s lone game over in Spain will see two mid-table sides separated by just one point from each other in the table, in 10th and 11th spot respectively, clash over at the Estadio Mendizorrotza this weekend with relatively little to play for on the surface.

Both teams suffered heavy defeats in midweek to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid respectively, and will be hoping for much better performances ahead of this one.

For Getafe, Wednesday night’s 3-0 loss against Atletico Madrid was their third straight defeat in as many games, failing to score a single goal across any of those matches either, as the Azulones look to have made their holiday plans early and checked out of the league as a result.

For Deportivo Alaves, they were unbeaten in four straight games heading into Tuesday night’s heavy 5-0 defeat against Real Madrid. However, a return to form here on Saturday would see them leapfrog Getafe in the table, putting them top-half in the league overall, a result that would be a remarkable achievement for a team that finished bottom of the league just two seasons ago.

All four of these two teams’ previous head-to-heads inside this venue have finished in an outright draw, and while Getafe have looked to be checked out on the season as a whole across their last few games, they certainly won’t want to be leapfrogged into the bottom half of the table here on Saturday by a newly-promoted team.

Take the outright draw on Saturday in what should be another close encounter over at the Vitoria-Gasteiz this weekend between Getafe and Deportivo Alaves.

La Liga Prediction: Draw (+220)

Valencia vs Girona | Sunday May 19 | 8:00am ET

Valencia +170 | Girona +130 | Draw +250

Valencia vs Girona | Sunday May 19 | 8:00am ET

Girona’s aim to finish second in the league took a huge dent on Tuesday as they lost 1-0 at home against Villarreal, a result which saw local rivals Barcelona finally supersede them in the table with not only the one-point lead, but now also an extra game in hand as well.

Now the pressure will be on Girona with only two games remaining to slip no further in the table as ongoing wranglings behind the scenes mean that their spot for next season’s Champions League is in jeopardy because of the ownership percentage of Abu Dhabi’s City Football Group, a body that also owns sister club Manchester City.

Whatever ends up happening in that regard, Girona have enjoyed a remarkable 2023-24 campaign, easily besting their previous top finish of 10th in LaLiga.

However, with Atletico Madrid sitting just two points behind them in the table currently, and on a four-game win streak as well, the focus for Girona now will be to consolidate that top-three position and concede no more ground.

Facing them on Sunday are a Valencia side that have gone winless in four straight games in the league, failing to score in three of their previous four games inside their home ground of the Mestalla as well, so a fired-up Girona side might be the last thing Valencia would have wanted in order to close out a home campaign.

We’ll take the road team in this one to bounce back with a win and cover on Sunday against Valencia.

La Liga Prediction: Girona +0 PK (-135)

Real Betis vs Real Sociedad | Sunday May 19 | 1:00pm ET

Real Betis +140 | Real Sociedad +195 | Draw +200

Real Betis vs Real Sociedad | Sunday May 19 | 1:00pm ET

Real Betis’ final home game of the season kicks off on Sunday over at the Estadio Benito Villamarin as 6th-placed Real Betis hosts 7th-placed Real Sociedad in Sevilla this weekend.

Real Betis Los Verdiblancos have been in some fantastic form to close out the season across recent weeks, coming into this game off four wins from their last five games overall, with only league champions Real Madrid banking more total points across their last five starts than Real Betis have.

That’s some markedly different form than what Real Sociedad have been able to show of late, with the Royals winning just one of their last five games overall, and keeping just one clean sheet across that run as well.

Real Betis have beaten Real Sociedad in just one of their last five meetings inside the Benito Villamarin, that coming via a 4-0 blowout back in December of 2021.

However, even with Real Sociedad traditionally playing Real Betis tough in this venue across recent seasons, given both sides recent form coming into this game, we’ll take the home team in this one to take all three points here and extend the gap between 6th and 7th spot in the table this weekend.

La Liga Prediction: Real Betis +0 PK (-145)
