Keyshawn Davies vs Miguel Madueno Betting Analysis
One of the hottest prospects in all of boxing, Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davies, steps back into the ring this Saturday night against tough Mexican fighter Miguel ‘Explosivo’ Madueno over in New Jersey.
Keyshawn Davies came off the biggest win of his career to date back in February when he stopped highly experienced former champion Jose Pedraza inside of six rounds, and he looks set for a collision course against long-time rival Andy Cruz in the not-so-distant future, the man who beat him soundly in three different finals back in the amateurs, including the gold medal final at the Tokyo Olympics.
Keyshawn Davies comes into this one as the prohibitive -1400 favorite, with Miguel Madueno coming back at a +850 at most books.
Davies Looking To Leave No Stone Unturned On The Way To The Top
After a failed drug test for marijuana last year that was found in his system after his majority decision win over Nahir Albright, a result that was subsequently rescinded, Keyshawn Davies stated it was a watershed moment in his career, enabling him to get closer to God and give up marijuana for good.
That obviously did not go unnoticed as Davies looked far sharper in his last fight against Jose Pedraza than he did in his two previous bouts against Albright and Patera respectively, so we could well be seeing the best version of Keyshawn Davies moving forward.
Madueno Aims For Success In The U.S.
After going 27-0 to open up his career, Miguel Madueno saw the brakes get pumped when he took on Jezzrel Corrales two years ago down in Panama City.
Despite getting a flash knockdown at the start of that fight, Corrales’ greater experience started to grind down Madueno in the middle rounds, as he continually kept the younger fighter at bay, winning a fairly convincing decision despite the fight descending into dirty tactics near the end.
That will no doubt be the game plan for Keyshawn Davies in Newark this weekend as well, with Madueno now having shown he can be outboxed twice in his losses against both Jezzrel Corrales, and more recently back in November, Teofimo Lopez’s opponent last weekend, Steve Claggett.
Keyshawn Davies vs Miguel Madueno Expert Prediction
There seems to be a newfound edge in Keyshawn Davies since he was stripped of his win against Nahir Albright last year, looking a lot more focused with a lot more venom also as he looks to make up for potential lost time in the lightweight title picture.
A statement victory on Saturday for him on a card featuring two other prominent lightweights in the rising Abdullah Mason, and current WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, means that if Davies can stand out here with another sensational performance, it would no doubt open up a lot of opportunities for him over the next year/18 months.
Miguel Madueno has power no question, but it’s not as fearsome as his 90.32% KO ratio suggests, almost deserting him as he’s stepped up through the gears in recent years.
He was also soundly beaten by Steve Claggett in their fight last year, and Keyshawn Davies is much more accurate and sharper than Claggett is, so Madueno might well get rocked badly in this one.
Look for Keyshawn Davies to potentially close the show late in this one, somewhere between rounds 7-10, as he continues his ascent in the lightweight division.
