Spain vs England Picks | Sunday, July 14 | 3:00PM ET

Spain +145 | England +220 | Draw +185

Two teams that have taken wildly different paths to get to this point at Euro 2024 clash on Sunday over at the Olympiastadion in Berlin as England meet Spain in the final showdown of what’s been a dramatic tournament so far.

For Spain, it’s been pretty much a dream showing across the entire tournament so far, with the Spanish being selected as most people’s favorites to win this competition after their opening day 3-0 blitz of a highly experienced Croatian team.

Since then, the Spanish have gone on to dust off Italy, Germany, and France to reach the penultimate stage of this competition before the winner’s circle, along with Albania and Georgia also, and will feel confident going in as favorites ahead of this game facing what has been up to this point at least, a rather lackluster English side.

To their credit however, England will no doubt feel it’s not about how they reached their second major European final in as many tournaments, but just the fact that they’re here, as no one will likely remember or care about their previous performances or results should they lift the trophy here on Sunday.

That said, it’s been a rough watch for English supporters across this tournament as a whole, failing to beat both Denmark and Slovenia back in the group stage, and coming very close to exiting against Slovakia in the Round of 16 stage also.

England did show a better version of themselves across their two recent games however, especially early on, looking the better team throughout in the first halves of both of their games against Switzerland and the Netherlands respectively over the last two rounds.

That defensive pragmatism has a habit of kicking in for England in crunch games however, and under Gareth Southgate, it has become part of the norm, almost costing them multiple times already at this tournament, as well as against Italy in the last European final also after England took the early lead.

It’s understandable therefore that Spain enter in as favorites for Sunday’s final, especially as they’ve averaged the highest goals scored at this tournament so far, as well as owning the highest xG count also, being particularly strong in the middle of the park with 71% of all of their attacking efforts coming down the center.

That offensive presence for Spain could match up well here against an English midfield unit that has looked particularly fatigued across recent matches, especially in midfield lynchpin Declan Rice.

However, England has shown themselves to be incredibly resilient across these Euros so far, allowing opponents an average of just 0.67 GAPG, as well as owning one of the lowest opponent shot zones inside their own 6-yard box at these Euros also, giving up just 3% on average (Spain’s opponent chances created in that same area is triple that). England will therefore likely prove a tough nut to crack for this Spanish team on Sunday.

However, given everything we’ve seen from both of these teams so far, along with Southgate’s less-than-tactical brilliance in games, you’d have to favor Spain ahead of this year’s final, something the market is in full agreement with as well.

EURO 2024 Final Prediction: Spain (+145)

EURO 2024 Top Goal Scorer Market

The Top Goalscorer market has been one of the most intriguing across the entire tournament so far, with six players currently tied in first place on three goals respectively.

Two of those players will be involved in this Sunday’s final, so it’s no surprise to see English target man Harry Kane and Spain’s Dani Olmo go in as the two favorites to lift this year’s Golden Boot.

However, speculation persists on whether or not Harry Kane will even get a starting role here as he has looked second best throughout at this tournament, with understudies Ivan Toney, and especially Ollie Watkins who scored the winner against the Netherlands on Wednesday night, making a strong claim to get the starting role ahead of England’s #1 all-time record goalscorer.

Gareth Southgate certainly isn’t one to make bold decisions like that on the makeup of his team, so chances are Harry Kane will get the start here, but sometimes those bold moves can be the right call in games in order to revitalize a team’s chances.

Whether Kane starts or not in this one, no player has had a higher individual rating at this tournament so far than Dani Olmo has, so it’s hard to look past him ending on a high note come Sunday.

Golden Boot Winner: Dani Olmo (+250)
