British rivals Nathan Heaney and Brad Pauls meet for their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday night over in the U.K. after their split decision draw at this same venue in Birmingham back in March.

In what was an absorbing bout from start to finish, Nathan Heaney’s rangier, more technical skills gave him the advantage early on in the fight before Brad Pauls was able to push the tempo in the second half and use his added power and stamina to pour pressure on in the later rounds and put Heaney in some real trouble.

The still undefeated Nathan Heaney comes into the rematch as the -200 favorite, with Brad Pauls coming back as a +175 underdog.

After dominating most of the early rounds in their first contest, Nathan Heaney was adamant in pointing out in a recent interview that one off night, and especially two “really bad rounds” as he put it, won’t derail what he’s achieved in his career up to this point.

That means Brad Pauls only loss up to this point was against someone operating at world level currently, a fact that will no doubt give the Newquay native some extra confidence ahead of this rematch.

Nathan Heaney is currently undefeated for a reason, employing a solid jab with good movement and the ability to work at range to clinically outbox most of his opponents.

However, Brad Pauls showed in their first fight that once he made it inside against Heaney, he was able to operate almost at will, really punishing Heaney to the body with some hard shots across the second half of the fight and very nearly getting the stoppage as a result.

Heaney was incredibly shook in that first fight, showing that Pauls carries serious power with his almost 60% KO ratio backing that fact up.

If Heaney gets in that same trouble once again in this one, Paul’s greater stamina and his experience from their first clash may be enough for him to finish the job this time around, and we like the big money on offer for that to happen.
