NRFI Best Bet Today #1: Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers (-165)

We have a pitching duel on our hands in the Motor City as Cole Ragans takes the mound for the Royals going up against AL Cy Young contender Tarik Skubal and the Tigers. Ragans hasn’t allowed a run in the first inning in 17 of 22 starts on the season including four-straight starts.

He’s already pitched once against the Tigers this season allowing just one hit in six innings while striking out 12 batters which is a season high for him.

Skubal hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 16 of 21 starts on the season and posts a 1.95 ERA when pitching at home compared to a 2.76 ERA pitching on the road.

We don’t expect much scoring in this one which includes the first inning and you can play on a Royals vs Tigers NRFI at -165 before first pitch at 6:40pm ET.

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Arizona Diamondbacks vs Pittsburgh Pirates (-135)

Luis Ortiz and the Pirates host the Diamondbacks for a three-game set starting tonight with the Pittsburgh righty not allowing a first inning run in each of his five starts on the season so far.

He has been dominant as of late as well posting a 1.75 ERA in July in 25.2 innings pitched. Brandon Pfaadt gets the nod for the Diamondbacks and coincidentally enough his last start came against this same Pirates team at home.

It didn’t go how he’d planned allowing five earned runs but overall he was solid in July posting a 2.31 ERA in four starts.

It’s also worth noting that Pfaadt hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 15 of 21 starts on the season. Play on a Diamondbacks vs Pirates NRFI at -135 with first pitch coming at 6:40pm ET from PNC Park.
