NFL Week 3 Team Total Prediction: Miami Dolphins UNDER 19.5 (-130) DK

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was officially placed on the injured reserve on Tuesday which officially limits the Dolphins offense for the foreseeable future.

Miami signed Tyler Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, but I can’t imagine him being familiar enough with the playbook to start.

That leaves Skylar Thompson who hasn’t started a game since 2022 and was unable to score a single point last Thursday night despite playing nearly the entire 2nd half against a Buffalo defense that basically had the game sealed.

Thompson playing quarterback limits the explosiveness of Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle and Raheem Mostert is still listed as questionable.

Mike Macdonald has brought in a Baltimore Ravens defensive scheme that was the first in history to rank first points allowed, sacks per game and takeaways in the same season.

They have held back-to-back opponents to exactly 20 points and they rank #2 in passing yards allowed with 128.5 per game. The Fins also have to deal with a cross-country flight and the potential for a few showers at Lumen Field.

NFL Week 3 Team Total Prediction: Houston Texans OVER 23.5 (-112) DK

The Houston Texans are averaging 24 points per game thus far with a 19-13 victory over a strong Chicago Bears defense and a 29-27 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Quarterback CJ Stroud is off to another strong start with 494 passing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. Joe Mixon and Nico Collins are both dealing with injuries but are trending towards playing and Mixon was spotted at practice on Wednesday.

If Mixon were unable to play, Cam Akers is a capable backup. The Minnesota Vikings defense has looked better than most expected as they have allowed only 6 and 17 points.

However, we have to keep in mind, their first opponent was the New York Giants and then they played a San Francisco 49ers team without Christian McCaffrey.

The Vikings offense could push scoring in this contest as they have already put up 28 and 23 points. However, Sam Darnold has already thrown two interceptions and he’s due to start “seeing ghosts” again.

The Texans defense has recorded 9 sacks and 3 interceptions, and they could score themselves or put the offense in great field position at the very least. Houston is more than comfortable playing indoors and 24 points seems like a very reasonable ask.
