Arsenal vs Southampton | October 5 | 10:00AM ET

Title contenders Arsenal looked in superlative form in midweek beating French giants PSG 2-0 at the Emirates, netting both goals inside the opening 35 minutes as they controlled the match throughout.

Now, the focus returns back to the Premier League with what is currently a five-team logjam up at the top of the table with just two points separating Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Aston Villa.

However, Arsenal will no doubt feel they can start to separate themselves from the pack sooner rather than later as they’ve arguably been the league’s best team this season, getting unlucky not to come out with all three points in their two respective draws against Brighton and Manchester City recently.

For Southampton, it’s been largely the opposite, coming off yet another 3-1 defeat against Bournemouth on Monday night in a game they looked completely adrift in, with all but the most diehard Saints’ fans now expecting the south coast team to likely go down this season.

Southampton have generated just one point from their six games so far this year, with zero banked on the road, so it’s very difficult to make a case for them here given that trend, plus the fact that Southampton haven’t actually beaten Arsenal in the league since 1987.

The Gunners were the best defensive team in Europe last season in terms of defensive xGA, and they’ve maintained that status this year, with no team across any of Europe’s top-five leagues matching Arsenal’s record of 17 clean sheets across all competitions this calendar year.

That’s the way we see Saturday’s game going as well, with Arsenal winning comfortably and shutting out Southampton in the process.

Premier League Prediction: Arsenal to Win to Nil (-125)

Back-to-back draws now for champions Manchester City has seen them cede the top spot to Liverpool in what’s been an extremely congested top five in the league to start the season.

A last-gasp equalizer against Arsenal to salvage a draw two weeks ago at home was followed by another tepid performance against Newcastle last weekend that has seen some small alarm bells ringing at the Etihad as their rivals have taken advantage.

Even a 4-0 win in midweek against Slovan Bratislava did little to lift spirits up in the north-west as Celtic had put five past the same team just two weeks prior, so Saturday’s game against Fulham will be a crucial one for the Cityzens as they continue to adapt to life without Rodri.

Fulham meanwhile are on a five-game unbeaten streak in the league themselves after losing their opening game narrowly to Manchester United, but haven’t been particularly effective in this fixture across years past, losing sixteen straight times against Manchester City across all competitions, the longest such run in English football history.

Manchester City needs a big response in this game as both Liverpool and Arsenal are heavily favored to pick up all three points in their respective games this weekend, so City can ill afford another labored performance here on Saturday.

With the Cityzens putting a massive nine goals past Fulham across their last two head-to-heads however, the Cottagers could prove the perfect opponents in which to bounce back against, and that’s the way we’ll look here on Saturday by taking Manchester City to win and cover on the handicap line this weekend against Fulham.

Premier League Prediction: Manchester City -1.75 (-110)

Brighton vs Tottenham | October 6 | 11:30AM ET

Brighton +185 | Tottenham +125 | Draw +300

In what could well end up being one of the games of the weekend, Tottenham travel over to the Amex Stadium on Sunday to take on Brighton.

Both of these teams have been full of goals this season, scoring a combined 22 between them, but what makes this such an interesting fixture is that both defenses have been vulnerable also, with no team in the league allowing more opportunities to opposing sides inside their own 18-yard box this season than Tottenham have, and Brighton ranking bottom half in the league in defensive xGA since September 1st as well.

This has been a fixture that has tended to see a lot of goals recently in terms of head-to-head action as well, with all of these two teams’ last three meetings witnessing a combined 12 goals scored with both teams finding the back of the net in each also.

Tottenham have an upcoming game in midweek against Ferencvaros over in the Europa League, but have enough depth to rotate in that fixture even though it’s still less than ideal preparation against a team in Brighton that they’ve lost three of their last five meetings against at this venue.

Brighton have tended to be quick starters against Tottenham as well, scoring inside the opening 20 minutes in both of their last two head-to-heads against Spurs, and we’re backing that to continue here on Sunday down on the south coast.
