Last season, the Minnesota Timberwolves posted their 2nd best record in franchise history with a 56-26 mark. They reached the Conference Finals for the first time since 2004 but lost to the Dallas Mavericks. The Timberwolves 2024-25 regular season win total is set at 52.5.

Minnesota’s 56-26 record during the 2023-24 season was their 2nd best winning percentage in franchise history at .683, trailing only the 2003-04 season where they went 58-24 for a .701-win percentage.

It was also the 3rd biggest improvement in the NBA (.512 to .683) behind only the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Anthony Edwards is a next generation superstar that showed he can thrive on both sides of the court during crunch time.

The Timberwolves also had the Defensive Player of the Year in Rudy Gobert and the 6th Man of the Year in Naz Reid. Jaden McDaniels is a top on the ball defender and this team won with defense as they ranked #1 in points allowed (106.5/game), points allowed per possession (108.4/game) and field goal percentage allowed (45%).

Minnesota was involved in a big-time offseason splash as they shipped Karl Anthony-Towns to New York for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.

I think this move improves the team but if Randle comes out flat due to shoulder surgery, he has a player option and he could be used as a trade chip.

They also made a significant move on draft night, moving up to grab Rob Dillingham at No. 8 for 2030 and 2031 first round picks.

This team could take a step back from last year’s 56 wins and still clear this line, but I still view them as a top 3 seed in Western Conference with 53+ wins.
