2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational Course Preview
Bay Hill is known for its ability to play easy in calm conditions but brutally difficult when the wind picks up. This week, the weather will be a major factor, with rain on Wednesday softening the course, followed by strong winds on Thursday that will make scoring tough.
Conditions calm down on Friday and Saturday, allowing for better scoring, but thunderstorms on Sunday could lead to a Monday finish.
The course itself features wider fairways than other Florida courses like PGA National or TPC Sawgrass, but proximity to the hole remains one of the toughest tests on Tour.
Bay Hill’s par-3s rank among the most difficult, and when the course is firm, the par-4s also become a serious challenge.
Historically, ball striking alone isn’t enough to win here, as putting on the TifEagle Bermudagrass greens has been key for past champions like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Tyrrell Hatton.
The rough is 3 inches and thick, and with unpredictable weather and potential delays, adaptability will be just as important as skill in this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.
2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational Favorite Holes
Favorite Hole: 6th Hole Par 5 555 Yards
It has to be the 6th hole here at Bay Hill made famous by Bryson Dechambeau driving it over the water leaving himself 70 yards for his second.
But for those that don’t drive it 400+ yards here, it’s an amazing hole that requires a really tricky drive with water on the left, and the curve of the fairway wrapping around the water so wayward drives to the right will find thick rough making the approach really difficult.
The approach is no gimme as there’s still water on the left, and a big bunker on the right so this is not an easy birdie Par 5. It’s a gorgeous hole that gives players birdie opportunities, but has plenty of danger to bring big numbers into play.
18th Hole Rating Par 4 458 Yards
Solid finishing hole as the fairway is not terribly wide, and there is water on the right side that makes the fairway way more narrow so look for players to lay back a bit or bail a bit to the left.
The green is massive so the pin location can make a huge difference in the length of the approach shot, and there could be some crazy long putts.
There’s water to the right of the green that will see plenty of action, and bunkers on the left and deep can cause some problems as well. It’s a pretty nice hole, but it doesn’t really stand out as an elite 18th hole.
2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational: Players That Can Trip You Up
Xander Schauffele
I don’t think he’s 100% healthy, and he even has said he just needs to get reps in to get ready for The Masters, and that sitting at home has been driving him nuts.
He hasn’t been able to practice, and get into 100% shape, and with a windy Thursday in the forecast, I think he could stumble out of the gates, and with a loaded field I think just making the cut would be a big win for him this week.
He also doesn’t have any Top 20 finishes at this tournament. This course has real bite to it, and I think he struggles in his first week back.
Min Woo Lee
He’s been one of the stars of TGL, he’s played well this year with 4 Top 20 finishes…but the fan favorite is bad here. The last 3 years he’s missed the cut twice, and the other finish was 44th.
Looking at the course history, it’s all about his downright awful putting here so there’s something he doesn’t like or read well well here.
This is his best year as a professional so far, but I can’t bet on him or put him in DFS this week due to course history.
Ludvig Aberg
184th in putting inside 10 feet, 173rd putting between 4-8 feet, 177th in 3 putt avoidance…159th in total putting. He’s a beast, there’s no doubt, but he’s coming off a win, and his stock has never been higher.
He’s finished 24th and 25th in the 2 times he’s played here, I think he’s a bit over valued. He’s priced as a Top 3 player, and with this loaded field, I don’t trust his putting to get him into the top 5 this week.
Arnold Palmer Invitational DraftKings Darlings
Christian Bezuidenhout $6500
He’s made 4 straight cuts in a row this season, and he’s made the cut in 4 out of the last 5 years playing here. His putting has been fantastic at +1.05 strokes gained putting this season, if he can keep up the nice putting, he could be a steal at this price.
Harris English $6600
Four straight made cuts this season, and he plays well here as he’s finished 21, 2, 26, 9 in his last 4 tournaments at Bay Hill.
I wish his tee-to-green numbers were better, but his putting has been solid this season so we’ll depend on his course history and putting to make the cut.
Sahith Theegala $7400
I think we may have gone to far with Theegala’s value this week. He hasn’t been great, but he’s made the cut in every tournament this season, and that’s 13 straight made cuts.
He’s finished 6th and 14th the last w years here so I’ll gladly take him at this price.
Final Lineup: Christian Bezuidenhout $6500, Harris English $6600, Sahith Theegala $7400, Keegan Bradley $8400, Russell Henley $8800, Scottie Scheffler $12,000
