Warriors vs Kings Analysis
The Sacramento Kings travel to the Chase Center for a Western Conference clash with the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night. The Kings snapped a 7 game losing streak with a 112-101 home victory over the Brooklyn Nets last night. Meanwhile the Warriors extended their current winning streak to seven games with a 124-120 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Golden State has won both head-to-head meetings so far this season, with 119-107 road victory in October and 113-98 at home on December 20th.
Short-handed Warriors Win Seventh Straight
The Golden State Warriors have the second best record in the NBA at 39-13 after winning their 7th straight game. They managed to pick up a victory over the Spurs despite playing without Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins. Jordan Poole led the way for the Warriors with 31 points, while Kevon Looney added a 12 point 12 rebound double double.
The Warriors will continue to play without Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala. Otto Porter Jr is questionable for tonight’s contest. The good news is it looks Curry, Thompson and Wiggins will return. The Warriors are first in the league in defensive efficiency while ranking 2nd in points allowed with only 102.5 per game. The Warriors rank 12th in scoring with 110.7 points a game.
Kings Hold Court Against Nets
Coming into last night’s clash with the Brooklyn Nets the Kings had lost 7 in a row and 11 of their last 13 games. It was a stronger defensive performance than we are used to seeing out of Sacramento. They amazingly held James Harden to 4 points on 2 of 11 shooting and Kyrie Irving to 14 points on 5 of 15 shooting. Harrison Barnes led the way with 19 points, while seven Kings players reached double digit points.
De’Aaron Fox is the Kings leading scorer on the season, he last played on January 19th and is questionable for tonight’s contest. Other than Fox, Marvin Bagley III is listed as questionable tonight. The Kings are 13th in the league in scoring with just over 109 points a game and are 28th in defensive scoring and efficiency with 114.5 points allowed per game.
Warriors vs Kings Prediction
The Golden State Warriors are huge favorites of 13.5 points with a total of 224.5. The Warriors are a red hot and well rested juggernaut that ranks highly in every statistical category. They have covered 65% of their home games with a 17-9-2 against the spread record.
It looks like the Kings will once again be without their leading scorer in De’Aaron Fox. Sacramento has the 3rd worst ATS record as a road underdog, as they only cover 37% of the time. The Kings will also be playing the second game of a back-to-back and expelled a ton of energy to comeback and beat the Nets late last night. The Warriors handled the Kings with ease in their first two head-to-head meetings and that should be expected again tonight. This a huge spread, but it’s a recipe for disaster for the Kings. Our official play will be on the Warriors -13.5.

🏀Phoenix is 12-6 against the spread as a road favorite this year.

Warriors vs Kings Preview from GoldSheet
Golden State starting to rev things back up, with seven-consecutive wins, covering four of the last five of those, ranking 2nd in net efficiency rating in that period. The most recent of those victories was one of the most impressive, as Warrior HC Steve Kerr rested stars G Steph Curry, F Andrew Wiggins and G Klay Thompson as Draymond Green continued his extended injury absence and PFs Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica were both scratched with injuries.
Sacramento is 7-20 straight-up and 10-17 against the points since Dec. 10, and the Kings are coming off a 112-101 home upset of Brooklyn last night, when the Kings won despite being without both PF De’Aaron Fox, PF Marvin Bagley and backup G Terence Davis. Sacto is just 3-7 against the number when unrested this year.
Warriors are back at full strength, and they have won and covered first two meetings with the Kings this season, with Curry scoring 28.5 ppg but shooting only 44% overall and less than 30% from beyond the arc in those games. Golden State is 17-9 on the season as a home favorite, but as the size of the number goes up, the Warrior cover percentage goes down (6-5 for the season laying 9½ or more at the Chase Center, but 2-5 the last 7 in that situation). The “under” is 6-2 the last 8 in this series.
