PSG vs Rennes Analysis
Rennes enter this one with a poor 3-3-5 record on the road this season, losing each of their last three away from home as well, but did inflict PSG’s only loss of the season so far on them back in October with a 2-0 home win in Roazhon Park.
PSG Looks to Reclaim Crown
After a shock domestic upset last season that saw Lille lift the Ligue 1 title by a single point over PSG, the Parisians are back with avengeance this season, owning a 13 point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table with just 15 games left remaining.
PSG have also gone unbeaten at home this season as well with an almost perfect record, banking 31 points from a possible 33 after a single draw against 3rd placed Nice two months ago.
Rennes Recent Road Troubles
Similar to PSG’s strong home form this season, Rennes have also been incredibly strong at home this year, winning 75% of all their home matches inside Roazhon Park this season to sit 2nd on overall home form this year right behind PSG.
But on the road it’s been a much different story for the visitors this season. Rennes have won just three games away from home all year, and more concerning than that is the fact that last win for them came over two months ago as well.
Since then, Rennes have dropped three straight games on the road and face an uphill battle here on Friday of breaking that trend against a strong PSG side inside Parc des Princes.
PSG vs Rennes Prediction
Rennes has a pretty strong head-to-head record against PSG over recent seasons, going unbeaten across four of their last six H2H‘s in all, including winning the last one outright.
However, they face a PSG side in absolutely scintillating form right now, blasting out current champions Lille 5-1 at the weekend in a top level performance that saw Messi, Mbappe and Danilo Pereira combine for 4 goals in that game.
Prior to that, PSG also beat Reims 4-0 as well in yet another league blowout win for the Parisians and they enter Friday’s game in red-hot form.
It’s been well over a decade (2008-09) since Rennes last managed to do the league double over PSG and we don’t see it happening here on Friday either.
PSG -0.75 is trading at around -135 at time of writing and that’s the way we’re going to look in this one on Friday night between Rennes and PSG over in Parc des Princes.
