Warriors vs Nuggets Analysis

The Denver Nuggets travel to Oracle Arena for a Western Conference clash with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have lost three of their last four games, while the Nuggets have won four of their last five.

The Nuggets won the only head-to-head matchup 89-86 against the Warriors who were without Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Both teams are playing their final game before the All-Star break.

WARRIORS vs NUGGETS TEAM TOTALS

The Golden State Warriors come into this game with a team total of 115.5, while the Denver Nuggets team total is 109.5 at DraftKings. The Warriors defense ranks 4th with 103.5 points a game, while the Nuggets rank 12th with 107.6 points allowed. They rank very closely in points scored at 12th and 13th respectively.

The Nuggets’ offense has been in a groove, scoring 110 or more in four of their last five and 120 or more in three of five. The Warriors have allowed 111 points or more in four straight and five of their last six games. Nikola Jokic is playing at his usual MVP level and the Warriors don’t have an answer for him down low. We will look for recent trends to continue and take the Nuggets team total over 109.5.

Team Total Play: Denver Nuggets OVER 109.5 Points

WARRIORS vs NUGGETS PLAYER PROPS

There are many different directions to look in this one with superstars like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Nikola Jokic. Curry has been on nice run recently after a scoring rough patch. We are still getting a bargain on his points total at 24.5. Curry has scored 30+ points in two of his last three games, while landing on 24 in the other game. Curry is firing three’s left and right and will be comfortable playing at home. We will roll with Curry over 24.5 points in this one.

Player Prop Play: Steph Curry OVER 24.5 Points

WARRIORS vs NUGGETS SAME-GAME PARLAY

  • Steph Curry OVER 22.5 Points
  • Nikola Jokic OVER 11.5 Rebounds
    +100 Odds

I considered Nikola Jokic rebounds but it was set high at 13.5, for the Same Game Parlay we can take over 11.5. Jokic hit this in 6 of his last 7 games, while landing on 11 in the other game. We will obviously add Curry points, but lower it to 22.5. This comes up to even odds, while it isn’t a huge payout it does have great chances of cashing.

Warriors vs Nuggets Preview from GoldSheet

Denver surprised Golden State back on Dec. 28, upsetting the Warriors in San Francisco 89-86 in what was a bit of reversal of the series trend that had seen Golden State cover seven of the previous eight vs. the Nuggets prior to that home loss.

Another aspect of the series has been a playoff-like pace and defensive intensity, with nine of the last 11 meetings going “under” the totals. The lower scoring games probably continue here, as Golden State leads the league in defensive efficiency this season, and Denver tends to play at a slower-than-average pace, holding foes to fewer than 108 ppg.

The Warriors far from clicking right now, losing four of last five straight-up and failing to cover any of their last six games (0-5-1 vs. the spread), and GS only scoring 105 ppg and shooting 43% as a team over their last 4 games. Splash brother Steph Curry is scoring 25 ppg and shooting 44% over his last 14 (not great for him), and his partner Klay Thompson has been hot and cold (literally 33 one night against the Lakers and then only seven points just two days later against the Clippers in his last two games).

Warriors have been pretty good as a home favorite this season and the Nuggets are .500 as a dog. Number seems fair and Warriors will remember Dec. 28 loss, which came before Thompson returned and without the services of Jordan Poole.
