Manchester City vs Tottenham Analysis
Manchester City enter Saturday’s game as arguably the best team in club football right now as they demolished Norwich 4-0 at Carrow Road last weekend to extend their lead at the top of the English Premier League to nine points, and then put in another scintillating performance in midweek against Sporting Lisbon over in the Champions League as they battered the home side 5-0 over in Portugal.
It’s been a much different recent run for Tottenham however. After starting well under Antonio Conte, ranking as the third-best team in the league since his tenure as boss up until the end of January, the wheels have well and truly come off the Spurs wagon over recent weeks, dropping three straight games in the Premier League to drop to 8th in the table.
Tottenham won the reverse fixture back at the start of the season against City 1-0 in London.
The Manchester City Express Train
It’s been an electric few months for the Citizens in both domestic and European action.
To convey just how dominant City are right now, the sky blues are currently -1000 to win the EPL title this season and an incredibly short +225 to win this year’s Champions League as well, almost half the odds of their two nearest rivals Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
And it’s for good reason as well as City became the fastest side in European history to bag 200+ goals in midweek with their 5-0 demolition over Sporting Lisbon and they’ve averaged a pretty astonishing 2.83 goals per game at home in the Premier League this season also.
The Conte Effect Dwindling
There was a lot of optimism around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the appointment of Antonio Conte as new boss just a few months ago.
The Italian had a proven track record of success, especially coming off winning the Serie A title with Inter just a few months earlier, but after a bright start to his reign in the English capital, that optimism has since subsided as Tottenham has slumped to three straight defeats over recent weeks in the Premier League.
However, Spurs have had almost a full week off to prepare for this game and welcome in some key players at the back for this clash, so Conte will no doubt hope that lifts the team ahead of this one.
Manchester City vs Tottenham Prediction
Despite the short week for City ahead of this one and Tottenham’s extra rest, it’s hard to look past anything other than a comprehensive Manchester City victory here on Saturday.
Instead of taking them on the steep moneyline or handicap however, we’re going to focus on the HT/FT prop in this one.
Manchester City HT/FT (Manchester City to be winning at both half-time and full-time) is going off at around -120 and that’s great value in our eyes.
Only 21.43% of all City’s conceded goals this season have come in the first half of games and Manchester City has been winning at both half-time and full-time in five of their last seven home matches in the Premier League as well.
