Florida Panthers vs Nashville Predators Analysis
The Panthers (35-10-5) return to the FLA Live Arena in Florida to host the (28-18-4) Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. The Predators play their second of two on the road after a 5-3 loss in Carolina against the Hurricanes on Friday night.
Meanwhile, the Panthers picked up an easy 5-2 victory over in Chicago over the Blackhawks on Sunday afternoon. This will be the first head-to-head matchup between these teams who meet again in April.
Predators Looking to Avoid Becoming Panthers Prey
The Nashville Predators come into Florida hoping to snap four game skid. Luke Kunin, Filip Forsberg and Tanner Jeannot scored a goal a piece in their most recent loss against Carolina.
Juuse Saros took the loss for Nashville after giving up four goals on 29 shots. Goaltending has been the biggest strength for the Preds, Saros owns a .923 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average in 42 starts.
However, Saros has struggled recently, giving up 15 goals over the course of four consecutive losses. Nashville is a rare NHL team that features a defenseman as their leading scorer, Roman Josi paces the Preds with 51 points in 48 games.
Nashville is middle of the pack in scoring with just over three goals a game, but have played well defensively ranking 10th with 2.82 goals allowed per game.
Panthers Prowl in Search of Fourth Straight Win
The Florida Panthers are playing well this week, they come into this game winners of three straight and 7 of their last 8 games. In their last victory over Chicago, Aleksander Barkov had a goal and two assists while Johnathan Huberdeau had two helpers of his own.
Sergei Bobrovsky got the win after saving 22 of 24 shots. Bobrovsky is 26-4-3 with a 2.51 goals against average and .919 save percentage. The Panthers have been nearly impossible to beat at home this season, posting a 23-3 record.
To put things into perspective, their last home loss was three months ago on December 16th against the Los Angeles Kings. Florida is the highest scoring team in the NHL with an average of 4.12 points per game.
Johnathan Huberdeau is the catalyst for Florida’s offense, he is tied for 2nd with 70 points and is currently third in the running for the 2022 Hart Trophy. The Panthers defense is just above average at 14th in goals allowed with 2.84 per game.
Florida Panthers vs Nashville Predators Prediction
The Florida Panthers are heavy favorites with the money line set at Panthers -205/Predators +175, the puck line Panthers -1.5 -130/ Predators +1.5 +110 and a total of 6.5.
Both teams are heading in very different directions, with Florida winning seven of their last eight and Nashville losing five of their last six games.
The Predators have also struggled with the Panthers recently, losing five of their last seven head-to-head meetings. I considered Predators +1.5 based on the goaltending of Saros, but even he has been in poor form recently. “Don’t try and catch a falling knife”.
Attach whatever saying you will to it, the Panthers are in the zone right now at home and we will ride the streak here.
Prediction: Florida Panthers -1.5 +110

Hockey Betting 101 | What is the Puckline?
The puckline is hockey’s version of the point spread. When betting on the puckline, the favorite is -1.5 goals on the spread, with the underdog at +1.5 goals. Betting on the favorite requires your team to win its game by two or more goals.
Conversely, betting on the underdog at +1.5 means that your team can either win the game or lose by one goal, and your ticket will still cash.
Since the majority of hockey betting is built around the moneyline, casual bettors might be turned off by laying larger prices with the top teams in the league. Instead of laying -200 or -250 on a strong favorite, a more attractive option might be laying -1.5 goals at a more reasonable price point.
Conversely, it can be hard to pull the trigger on a +200 underdog that’s expected to lose their game over 60% of the time. Well, it gets a little easier to put your money on them if you’re getting a +1.5 goal head start.
