Suns vs Knicks Analysis

The New York Knicks head to Phoenix for a cross-conference showdown with the Suns on the second game of ESPN’s Friday night doubleheader.

The Suns hope to finish a split of their four-game homestand after crushing the Portland Trailblazers 120-90 on Wednesday night. The Knicks continued their free fall by getting run off the court 123-108 in Philadelphia against the 76ers. The Suns pummeled the Knicks 118-97 in New York back in December.

Next Man Up

The Phoenix Suns came out of the All-Star break with the unfortunate news that Chris Paul would be out for 6-8 weeks with a fractured thumb. The next shoe dropped on Wednesday afternoon when news broke that Devin Booker would enter the leagues health and safety protocol, a rarity nowadays.

Luckily for Phoenix, the Portland Trail Blazers were next on the docket and the Suns responded with an impressive victory. Cam Johnson led the team in scoring with 20 points of the bench, while DeAndre Ayton chipped in with 18 points and eight rebounds.

The Suns became the first team in the league to 50 wins and will be looking to improve on a 2-2 record since Chris Paul went down. No other players are listed on the injury report outside of Paul and Booker.

The Suns’ offense remains in good form without Paul, they have averaged 119.1 points over their last ten games. In their last ten games, they have allowed an average of 109 points a game to their opponents.

Road Trip to Nowhere

The New York Knicks are falling apart at the seams. They have lost six-straight and 16 of their last 19 games. The Knicks are staring down a brutal West coast road trip that ends back east in Brooklyn, where they now get to deal with Kevin Durant.

RJ Barrett was a bright spot in latest loss to the 76ers, he scored 30 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Kemba Walker is out for the season, Derrick Rose is still out indefinitely and Quentin Grimes is questionable for tonight’s contest.

The defense has fallen off a cliff, allowing over 119 points a game over their last ten games played. Over the last 1ten games they average 109 points ranking 20th in the league.

Suns vs Knicks Prediction

The Knicks have been in horrible form and have been allowing points by the boatload. The over has cashed in each of the Knicks’ last six games and seven of the Suns’ last ten games.

As a side I would lean Suns, but a 7-point cover is a lot to ask without Paul and Booker. The Suns can still put up points without them, so we will make over 222.5 the official play.

Official Play: OVER 222.5 Points
