Denver Nuggets vs Golden State Warriors Analysis
The Golden State Warriors travel to Ball Arena in Denver for a Western Conference showdown with the Nuggets. The Nuggets edged out the Sacramento Kings 106-100 at home last night. The Warriors also won their last game at home 112-97 over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.
Denver has won all three head-to-head matchups, the last one being a 131-124 home victory on Monday night. However the Warriors had decided to rest their starters and essentially forfeit the game.
Warriors Snap Losing Streak
The Golden State Warriors were mired in a five game losing streak prior to beating the Clippers and improving to 44-22 on the season. Jonathan Kuminga led the team in scoring with 21 points, while Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole both scored 20.
The Warriors have been on shaky ground recently, losing seven of their last ten games. It’s no surprise the Warriors have struggled given some of injury issues they have dealt with.
The key missing piece has been Draymond Green, who they will continue to play without. But the supporting cast remains depleted, including James Wiseman, Otto Porter Jr, Gary Payton II and Andre Iguodala. They still have maintained a solid defense that ranks 5th with only 104.9 points allowed to their opponents. Offensively they rank 10th while scoring 111 points per game.
Nuggets Continue to Shine
The Denver Nuggets are definitely trending in the right direction, winning four straight and 10 of their last 12 games. Last night’s victory over the Sacramento Kings improved their overall record to 40-26. No surprise, Nikola Jokic led the team with a monstrous 38 point, 18 rebound and 7 assist effort. Monte Morris also chipped in with 20 points.
Knowone has overcome more injuries than the Nuggets. Jamal Murray hasn’t touched the court yet and Michael Porter Jr has also missed most of the season, both are due back come playoff time. Currently Will Barton, Jeff Green and Bones Hyland are listed as day-to-day. The Nuggets defense ranks 12th with 108 points allowed, while their offense ranks 10th scoring 111 points a game.
Denver Nuggets vs Golden State Warriors Prediction
The Golden State Warriors are 2-point road favorites with a total set at 229 points. The Nuggs are obviously in far better form, but this game just has to mean more to Golden State. The Nuggets are also playing the second game of a back-to-back so tired legs could be an issue. But either way picking a side feels like a dart throw.
These teams combined for 255 points with the Warriors backups playing the entire game on Monday night. Jokic will be able to have his way in the paint, while the Warriors will have a huge advantage shooting on the perimeter. We are going to take a shot on the over tonight.
