Nigeria vs Ghana Analysis
While Ghana had more chances to break the deadlock in that first game, the better ones arguably fell to Nigeria who almost scored through midfielder Moses Simon’s chance just after half-time before a late penalty decision was reversed through VAR for the ‘Super Eagles’.
Ghana is winless over their last five matchups in all while Nigeria have lost just one of their last eight.
Ghana’s Struggles on the Road
While their overall form hasn’t been great to begin with, going winless over 2022 so far, it’s been Ghana’s road form which has really presented a problem for the ‘Black Stars’ over the last few years.
Just one win on the road since 2019 means Ghana are deserved underdogs ahead of this clash on Tuesday and they’ll face an uphill battle to claim a second away win here in front of what is sure to be a vocal home crowd support in Nigeria.
Nigeria Looking to Overturn History
It’s been a long time since Nigeria last found success against their rivals Ghana in meaningful international action.
Not since 2006, when Nigeria boasted such players as John Obi Mikel and Obafemi Martins have the Super Eagles registered a victory against Ghana in either World Cup qualification or African Cup of Nations action, and they’ll look to that home crowd support in overturning that here on Tuesday.
Nigeria vs Ghana Prediction
This total is set at an incredibly low 1.75 for this game, but it’s obvious to see why.
Nigeria gave up just three goals across their entire group stage campaign, as did Ghana, so with both defenses in really solid form ahead of this clash, we’re expecting another low scoring game here on Tuesday also, especially with so much on the line for both teams in this one.
Nigeria looks to be the stronger of the two teams right now and we like them to get the job done here on Tuesday, but only by the slenderest of margins.
The Nigeria to win exactly 1-0 correct score prop is going off at a criminally low +350 ahead of this game, but it’s clear to see why as everything on paper points to Nigeria edging out Ghana here at home in what should be a low scoring contest.
Take Nigeria to win by exactly 1-0 at +350 as the play for Tuesday in their knockout qualification clash against Ghana.
