Golden State Warriors vs Denver Nuggets Analysis

Game Two of the first round series between the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors will take place on Monday night at the Chase Center. The Warriors prevailed in a 123-107 victory in Game One.

Jordan Poole led the way with a 30 point effort on 9 of 13 from the field and 5 for 7 from beyond the arc. Steph Curry was limited to 16 points while playing only 22 minutes off the bench.

Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 25 points in the losing effort. Tip off for Game Two is set for 10PM ET.

Poole Connects From The Deep End

On a night where their star player Steph Curry couldn’t get going due to injury, Jordan Poole put on a clinic with a 30 point performance. Poole went 5 for 7 from deep and went 9 for 13 from the floor.

He wasn’t the only sharp shooter for Golden State as they drained 16 three-pointers while shooting over 52% from the field as a team. The Warriors should continue to keep a fast pace to keep Jokic as winded as possible.

Defensively the Warriors did a nice job limiting Denver to only 46% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc. Monday the night should be more of the same, force someone other than Jokic to beat you.

Joker Gassed After MVP Push

Nikola Jokic looked looked absolutely gassed and that was coming off nearly a weeks rest prior to Game One of the opening round.

Jokic had to know the deck was stacked against him, playing against the loaded Warriors without both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. Being asked to do everything is a completely different task in the post-season.

Jokic is an amazing distributor but will need teammates to knock down shots for the Nuggs to have a chance. Aaron Gordon looked lost in Game One, going three for ten from the field for eight points and five rebounds. Denver simply cannot survive performances like this with other key contributors on the shelf.

Golden State Warriors vs Denver Nuggets Prediction

The Golden State Warriors are favored by 7 points with a total of 222. The Warriors ran over the Nuggets in Game One and Steph Curry wasn’t nearly himself.

An exhausted Jokic can only do so much against the leagues #2 rated defense. The Warriors are in great form going 6-1 against the spread in their last seven, while Denver is 2-5 ATS in the same span.

Maybe things will change in the altitude of Denver for Game 3, but I don’t see any other direction to look but Golden State. Nothing huge, but let’s make a small play on the Warriors -7.

Prediction: Golden State Warriors -7
