Vancouver Canucks vs Seattle Kraken Analysis

The Vancouver Canucks hold on to their postseason hopes by the slimmest of margins heading into Tuesday as they welcome in a Seattle Kraken team who are effectively playing with abandon right now and looking good as a result, winning three of their last five games overall.

If Vancouver are to get back to winning ways here and keep those faint postseason hopes alive they’ll need to remarshall a defense which has given up 5.33 goals against per game over their last three starts.

The Vancouver Canucks have took all three meetings against the Seattle Kraken this season.

Away Form Has Been A Huge Issue For The Kraken This Season

Boasting the West’s worst road record this season at just 11-25-3, it’s been no surprise to see the Kraken slip to back-to-back road defeats recently after a going on a mini three game winning run at home last weekend.

A lot Seattle’s issues have come on the offensive end this season, with the Kraken averaging the league’s 2nd lowest expected goals rate this year ahead of only Arizona, and owning one of the league’s worst shots to goal ratios as well at under 9%.

Boudreau Keeps This Canucks Team Firing

Despite their recent three game slide, it’s been an impressive run for head coach Bruce Boudreau this year since he took charge over this Canucks team back in December.

Since his arrival the Canucks have gone a noteworthy 30-15-9 and he’ll hope to improve on that even further tonight at home where Vancouver has gone 4-1 over their last five games inside Rogers Arena.

Vancouver Canucks vs Seattle Kraken Prediction

We like the Seattle Kraken to remain competitive in this game later tonight and cover on the +1.5 puckline against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.

Despite their problems on the offensive end this season, the Kraken have actually been a very effective defensive team, giving up the 4th fewest expected goals against in the league this season behind only Boston, Minnesota and Calgary.

That should be enough to slow down a Vancouver Canucks team tonight that look to be running out of steam to close out the season, and even with Philipp Grubauer in nets who’s expected to start tonight for the Kraken, the German goalie showed against Colorado last week that he’s capable of at least some decent performances this year despite his overall struggles.

Prediction: Seattle Kraken +1.5 (-135)
