Aston Villa vs Liverpool Analysis
Liverpool travels to Birmingham on Tuesday night looking to rebound after a disappointing draw against Tottenham on Saturday.
That draw against Spurs snapped a six-game win streak for the Reds and they’ll be hard pressed now to close the three-point gap for the title on a Manchester City team who have now overtaken them on goal difference with only three games remaining on the season.
Liverpool Impervious On The Road
Liverpool has been absolutely fantastic on the road this season, failing to lose a single game away from home in 2022 thus far.
On top of that, no team has allowed less goals on the calendar year than Liverpool, giving up just 0.44 goals per game to opponents on average since the calendar turned to 2022.
The Reds will need to keep that form intact here on Tuesday if they’re going to have any chance of prying this year’s Premier League title away from Manchester City.
Big Turnaround For Steven Gerrard’s Men
Aston Villa is on a three-game unbeaten run themselves heading into Tuesday’s clash. After a run of four-straight defeats for Aston Villa through the mid-point of last month, the ‘Villains’ have turned things around of late, including winning both of their last two outright against Burnley and Norwich.
Villa is now in line for a surprising top-half finish to the season as long as they can close out the year strong. Manager Steven Gerrard will certainly be fired up for this one as he welcomes in his former club to Villa Park.
Aston Villa vs Liverpool Prediction
This is a difficult game to predict from a side perspective as Liverpool, despite their obvious need to win here to keep their slim chances of a league title alive, have such a stacked couple of weeks on deck. Aston Villa could present something of a banana skin here.
Liverpool face Chelsea in the FA Cup final this Saturday before a Champions League final against Real Madrid just two weeks later, so Jurgen Klopp won’t want to risk any players here ahead of those two crucial matchups.
Saying that however, City face a fairly difficult run-in to the season themselves, facing Wolves away (a team Pep has always struggled against), and an excellent West Ham side before taking on this same Aston Villa team in the final game of the season. So Klopp may well believe his team are still in with a shot of the domestic league title.
We’re going to look towards goals in this one and Liverpool’s excellent defensive form.
Villa has been shut out in three of their last five games at home since February, and face a Liverpool side who have shut out six of their last eight opponents on the road across all domestic level competition, so we expect an under in this one.
Take the under 3 goals on Tuesday in the game between Liverpool and Aston Villa over in the English Premier League.
