Pittsburgh Steelers vs Chicago Bears Predictions
- Pittsburgh Steelers -6.5 vs Chicago Bears
- Total: 38.5 Points
- The under is 5-1-1 in Pittsburgh’s games this season.
- The under is 7-2 in Chicago’s last nine games.
Two teams going in opposite directions as the Steelers are winners of three straight games, and the Bears losers of three straight. It’s certainly not two offenses anyone can have confidence in and the Bears can make the case they’re the worst offense in the league right now. They are averaging only 264 yards per game, and a shocking average of only 127.4 passing yards per game…Pittsburgh is passing for 244.4 yards a game, but in the rushing game the stats are flipped. Pittsburgh is struggling to run the ball at only 86 yards a game where Chicago has gotten the running game going as they are rushing for 136.6 yards a game.
The three wins in a row for the Steelers certainly look good in the wins column, but the quality of opponents make that win streak not very impressive. They beat the Broncos by eight points and the Broncos are throwing in the towel on the season, then a three point win against Seattle with no Russell Wilson, and a five point win against Cleveland who have injury and chemistry issues to say the least. In order for me to back the Steelers, I would have liked to have seen more dominating performances against those teams.
The Bears last three losses came at the hands of the Packers, a domination from Tampa Bay, and an 11 point loss to San Francisco without their head coach due to COVID protocols. Nagy will be back with the Bears this Monday in hopes to right the ship. It’s hard to put money on the Bears as they’re only averaging 15.4 points per game this season and 13 points in the last three. So what do we do with this game?
I’ll be on the over in this game as the books expect a low scoring game, and for good reason, but 39.5 is too low for me to pass up. The Bears have given up 33, 38, and 24 points their last three games, so the Steelers should be able find some holes to exploit as they’ve scored over 21 points average the last three games. Pittsburgh’s defense hasn’t really been tested too much the last few games, but when they lost three in a row earlier this season they gave up 24 or more in all three of those games, and their rush defense has been shaky recently as they have given up over 115 yards rushing a game, that’s up 10 yards a game from their season average. The Bears should be able to rush the ball, and the Steelers should have enough production against a struggling Bears defense to produce scoring drives. Any total below 40 has my attention, and this game is no different. Most will assume the under is the play, I’ll take the other side and play over 39.5.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Chicago Bears Analysis from The GoldSheet
The Nagy-GM Ryan Pace duo might need Ohio State rookie Justin Fields to catch fire the last half of the season if they are to stick around into 2022, but even that might not be enough if the defense keeps leaking as it’s done the past two weeks when allowing 30+ points (for just the second time in the Nagy era) in losses to the Bucs and recently-struggling Niners. The argument for a Bears recommendation is mostly an argument against laying nearly a TD with the Steelers, whose offense has been moving as slow as a 16-wheeler in the current, hardscrabble three-game win streak. It took over a month, but new OC Matt Canada finally seems to realize that his best option is a run-heavy look featuring Alabama rookie Najee Harris, who toted it 24 times in last Sunday’s inspired win over the Browns, and not ask a late-career Ben Roethlisberger to heave it 40 or more times like the old days.
