Read as Sportsmemo MLB handicapper JM Sports provides his strikeout prop picks and predictions for Saturday, May 28th with odds provided by FanDuel. The Tigers and Guardians were rained out yesterday leaving us an opportunity to roll with an ace today.
Daily Strikeout Prop Prediction: Shane Bieber Over 6.5 K’s (-115)
Due to yesterday’s rainout in Detroit, Bieber will be on the mound today, and my opinion doesn’t change with the date.
Bieber may not be at his Cy Young caliber that he has been in recent years, but he is still averaging over 9 K’s per 9 innings which puts him in the top 25 out of qualifying pitchers.
While he has gone 6 or more strikeouts in 5 of the last 6 starts, he has also been fond of road starts, at least when it comes to his strikeout numbers, averaging 12.1 strikeouts per 9 innings on the road since the start of 2020.
Not to mention, he has absolutely dominated this Tigers team and is averaging 11.2 K’s over his last 6 games that he started against Detroit.
Six out of the 9 starters for Detroit today have struck out 3 or more times against Bieber, the only 3 players that haven’t, Javier Baez, who has struck out twice in just 3 at-bats, Torkelson, who has struck out once in just 3 at bats and Derek Hill, who has yet to face Bieber.
Where as Willi Castro and Jaime Candelario have combined for 19 K’s in just 39 plate appearances.
