Oklahoma vs Iowa State Predictions
- Oklahoma Sooners -4 vs Iowa State Cyclones
- Total: 59.5 Points
- Iowa State has covered the point spread in each of the last five regular season meetings between these teams.
The Oklahoma Sooners enter Saturday’s game against Iowa State fresh off the back of their first loss of the season last weekend against Baylor, and dropping them well outside the national playoff hunt as a result.
And it was the ground game which provided the most problems for the Sooners in that one with Baylor running roughshod over them for a colossal 297 yards on the ground, with 47 rush attempts for 6.3 yards per rush.
That’s not gonna get it done here against an Iowa State Cyclones team that has put up 187.6 ypg on the ground on the road this season and have a guy in RB Breece Hall who ranks 6th nationally in total rushing yards per game this year.
However, while Oklahoma have struggled on the road this season, getting out-yarded by Kansas State in Week 5, having to rally back from a 10-0 HT deficit against a one FBS win Kansas team four weeks ago as well before their eventual loss to Baylor last week, they have been much better at home this year.
The Sooners have put up 50+ points in each of their last three designated home games this season (Texas was on a neutral), and will look to bounceback quickly into that home form here against Iowa State on Saturday.
Iowa State come into this one off a loss as well against Texas Tech last week but have been decent offensively over their last three starts, hanging 30+ points in each of those games and averaging 448.3 yards of offense over that same stretch as well.
Overall, I see this game going Over the total on Saturday. Iowa State are averaging 36.5 ppg and 459.1 yards of offense over their last eight starts, with no less than 400 yards of offense in seven of those eight games as well. Oklahoma meanwhile have always been a much more dynamic team at home offensively, putting up an average of 47 points at home under Head Coach Lincoln Riley during his time in charge and lead the country in red zone scoring percentage this season.
Take the Over on Saturday between Iowa State and Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma vs Iowa State Analysis from The GoldSheet
Well, the talk of Caleb Williams as a longshot Heisman contender ended pretty quickly as Lincoln Riley was forced to pull his star Sooners frosh QB last week in Waco before Williams made a belated return after Spencer Rattler (remember him?) hardly fared any better vs. Baylor. But the truth is that OU has rarely looked like a serious title threat this season, with matters compounded this week by the fact ISU has been such a tough matchup lately. It’s also been a bit of a disappointing season in Ames, with the Cyclones losing three close decisions vs. league foes in a variety of ways (including a 62-yard FG at the gun by Texas Tech last week), but QB Brock Purdy and RB Breece Hall have plenty of experience dealing with the Alex Grinch defense, and ISU doesn’t lose all of its close games, with the earlier 24-21 win over Oklahoma State growing in stature as the Cowboys continue to impress. Impress, however, is something OU has not done too often this season, with only three covers in nine tries vs. FBS opposition, and confidence in QB Williams perhaps a bit on the wane.
Oklahoma vs Iowa State Video Preview
Prior to the start of the season, most pundits assumed this would be a preview of the Big XII championship game. That’s still possible, but neither team has left themselves any wiggle room after both lost last week.
