Anthony Cacace vs Josh Warrington Betting Analysis
Anthony ‘The Apache’ Cacace looks to defend the IBF super-featherweight title he won this past May when he defeated the then-undefeated Joe Cordina by eighth-round stoppage in Riyadh.
Cacace was a huge underdog heading into that fight which was on the undercard of the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk heavyweight showdown, but managed to put in a career-best performance against the Welsh wizard, hurting him badly in the third round from which Cordina never really recovered.
He faces former champion Josh Warrington this weekend who has plenty of experience himself at the top level, and who will no doubt have his home country behind him as well as he looks to capture world title glory once again.
Anthony Cacace heads into this fight as the -240 favorite this weekend with Josh Warrington coming back as a +210 underdog.
The Apache Enjoying A Career Renaissance
After a career spent largely on the undercard circuit of shows in places such as Dundalk, Birmingham, and Wigan, the bright lights of being a world champion almost seemed like a distant dream for Anthony Cacace until very recently.
That career trajectory seemed even more set in stone when he dropped a decision to Martin Joseph Ward back in 2017, putting him back on the Holiday Inn circuit in his very next fight.
However, after a run of six straight wins and picking up a minor world title against Michael Magnesi back in 2022, Cacace finally got the opportunity he’d dreamt of against champion Joe Cordina, an opportunity he gladly took with both hands, transforming his career with one of the standout performances of the entire night.
Warrington Stepping Up To Super-Featherweight
Josh Warrington, one of England’s most popular fighters, finds himself moving up to super-featherweight this weekend to see if he has anything left in the tank as the all-action Leeds fighter has won just one of his last five bouts overall.
Warrington, who has enjoyed a glittering career so far beating the likes of Carl Frampton and Lee Selby, got absolutely run over back in 2021 when he faced the then-unheralded Mauricio Lara, with Lara pulverizing Warrington throughout with multiple knockdowns on his way to a ninth round stoppage.
With the rematch ending in controversy, something that’s become all too familiar in Warrington’s fights, the Leeds man once again came off another brutal knockout defeat in his last fight against fellow Englishman Leigh Wood, getting hit with a huge hook from which he never recovered from in a fight he was arguably winning in at the time.
Anthony Cacace vs Josh Warrington Expert Prediction
Josh Warrington is the fighter with more big fight experience heading into this one, and there is always a chance that Cacace’s hunger, especially at 35 years of age and after having achieved a lifelong dream, may have waned somewhat.
That said, Cacace looked absolutely huge against Joe Cordina in his last fight, with Cordina being a long-time super-featherweight, so it’s extremely unlikely that Warrington will fare any better in exchanging with Cacace in this one, especially with this being the Englishman’s first fight at the new weight.
On top of that, Warrington’s style naturally lends itself to all-out firefights, which is one of the reasons he’s such a fan favorite in his native England, but that could be a bad style matchup for him here as Cacace can hit with a ton of force on those hooks, and his recent style change to a front-foot heavy fighter has obviously paid dividends for him, so we don’t envision him going back to the back-foot boxing days of old.
Despite being just 33 years of age, Josh Warrington has been in one too many wars at this point, and at a new higher weight on top, we just don’t see things working out for him this weekend against the naturally bigger fighter in Anthony Cacace.
Anthony Cacace vs Josh Warrington Prediction: Anthony Capace by KO/TKO (+175)
