Brandon Figueroa vs Stephen Fulton Betting Analysis

Saturday’s highly-anticipated rematch between Philadelphia’s ‘Cool Boy Steph’ and ‘The Heartbreaker’, Texas’ own Brandon Figueroa, will see both men jump up a division from their razor-close first fight back in 2021.

In what was an action-packed fight throughout in Las Vegas, Stephen Fulton’s greater overall accuracy early was enough to see him over the line against Figueroa, yet only just, as the younger Figueroa not only did enough to claim a draw on one of the judge’s scorecards, but also his 298 power punches landed on Fulton was the most ever on the WBO champ.

So will it be repeat or revenge in Las Vegas this weekend? Bookies seem to believe the latter with Brandon Figueroa coming into this fight as the -170 favorite right now, with Stephen Fulton coming back as a +145 underdog.

The Heartbreaker Looks To Avenge His Only Loss

Brandon Figueroa may finally start to be getting the respect he deserves in the ring after coming into his first fight against Stephen Fulton as a big +265 underdog.

Not only did he overperform in that fight with many people scoring it outright for Figueroa, he also brutally stopped Luis Nery in his fight immediately prior to that with a huge left hook to the liver, opening up as an even bigger +275 underdog in that one (line later dropped before fight time), so backers of Figueroa have definitely been taken care of across recent years.

Now coming in off three really solid wins against Carlos Castro, Mark Magsayo, and Jessie Magdaleno respectively, Brandon Figueroa will look to avenge the only blemish on his career so far when he takes to the ring for a second time against Stephen Fulton on Saturday.

Does Fulton Still Have It?

Considered by many to be on the cusp of belonging on the P4P list prior to that first fight against Brandon Figueroa, recent years have firmly put the brakes on that potential accolade for Stephen Fulton.

A brutal one-sided beatdown by Naoya Inoue over in Japan back in 2023 almost put Fulton into semi-retirement, with the Philadelphia fighter not re-entering the ring for 14 months after that defeat before coming back against common opponent Carlos Castro last September.

While Fulton did enough to get past Castro via a split-decision in that fight, he was put down early by Castro, and his noticeable lack of pop at the higher weight class may be a cause for concern for him moving forward.

Brandon Figueroa vs Stephen Fulton Expert Prediction

In terms of elite-level skills and talent in the ring, there was a clear reason why many people considered Stephen Fulton to be on that P4P list prior to the Inoue defeat, as his quick twitch counter-punching ability and high-level accuracy reigned supreme in what was an already crowded division.

However, like Luis Nery and Robesiy Ramirez, elite-level skills aren’t always enough if the opponent you’re facing doesn’t give you a chance to display those skills, with high-volume-pressure fighters largely being kryptonite to that elusive counter-punching style.

While Fulton was just about able to marshall Figueroa in that first fight through a combination of lateral movement and pivoting off to the side, the bigger weight in this one should suit Figueroa a lot more, and his constant pressure may be enough to break Fulton down late in this one who, while showing a ton of heart in coming back to defeat Carlos Castro late last year, just hasn’t looked like the same fighter mentally since the Inoue defeat.

Only the legendary (and almost retired) ‘Chocolatito’ averages more total power punches thrown per round than Brandon Figueroa does, and that high-volume pressure combined with a higher weight here could prove extremely problematic for a fighter in Stephen Fulton who might have needed one or two fights more to fully get his confidence back.

Let’s roll the dice and take the big stoppage price on Brandon Figueroa late on Saturday.

Brandon Figueroa vs Stephen Fulton Prediction: Brandon Figueroa to Win in Rounds 9-12 (+900)
