Conor Benn vs Peter Dobson Betting Analysis

Two undefeated fighters clash this weekend over in Las Vegas as Britain’s Conor Benn looks to make a splash in the 147lb division Stateside with an impressive performance against New York’s Peter Dobson on Saturday.

Conor Benn will be looking to make up for lost time after having just one fight in almost two years after failing a drug test prior to his scheduled October 2022 bout against Chris Eubank Jr, something he hopes he can move on from with an electric display against Dobson this weekend.

Conor Benn comes into this one as the -1000 favorite with Peter Dobson coming back at a +600.

Benn Looking To Make Up For Lost Time

After a run of three very impressive stoppages across his four previous fights, the welterweight division looked to be on serious notice as Conor Benn’s frightening speed and power looked to be on par with the very best the division had to offer.

However, before Benn was given the chance to test his skills against the elite in the division, a scheduled matchup against long-time family rival Chris Eubank Jr., with Conor Benn’s father Nigel Benn having two historic bouts against Chris’ father Chris Eubank Sr., fell through due to Benn failing a drug test on the eve of the fight, eventually leading to its cancellation.

That has effectively put Benn on the backburner for almost two years now and he’ll be desperate to make up for lost time after having just one showing against Rodolfo Orozco back in September.

Dobson Aims To Continue Winning Run

With a KO percentage well above 50% and two stoppages in his last four fights, New York’s Peter Dobson will no doubt be relishing the opportunity to welcome in a still-rusty Conor Benn back to the American shores on Saturday, and propel his own name to the upper echelons of the division in the process.

Dobson definitely has the power to make this fight interesting as well, putting down a game Wilfrido Buelvas with multiple knockdowns back in 2021, so Benn definitely can’t afford to get overly reckless in this one.

Conor Benn vs Peter Dobson Expert Prediction

Conor Benn has fought once Stateside since his failed test in a very tough fight against Mexico’s Rodolfo Orozco back in September.

Despite the long layoff, Benn looked good for large parts in that fight however, landing some huge shots to the body of Orozco and flowing in and out of range fluidly.

However, the much bigger Mexican fighter coming in at a massive 6’ 1” and with experience fighting at both 154lb and 160lb previously, was able to take Benn’s best shots in that fight, leading to a wide points decision victory for the British fighter.

After the fight though, even with the massive size advantage of Orozco, he too failed a drug test, which really highlights exactly what Benn was up against in that fight, something he won’t face again against a similar-sized fighter to himself in Peter Dobson on Saturday.

Dobson is a solid fighter in the ring, often looking to employ a very rudimentary version of Mayweather’s shoulder roll when he’s on the defensive in fights, but he’s far more basic than Benn in almost every area, with Benn’s quickness and explosive power likely proving too much for Dobson this weekend.

We’re taking Conor Benn to win by KO/TKO on Saturday against Peter Dobson in Las Vegas.

Conor Benn vs Peter Dobson Prediction: Conor Benn by KO/TKO (-200)
