Diego Pacheco vs Maciej Sulecki Betting Analysis

One of the brightest young undefeated prospects in all of boxing returns to action this Saturday night in Carson, California as 23-year-old phenom Diego Pacheco looks to step it up another gear in his career by taking on tough former world title challenger Maciej Sulecki.

Pacheco comes off a much tougher-than-expected matchup against Shawn McCalman last time out back in April, a performance that did raise a few question marks among boxing fans and media outlets alike.

However, with McCalman being just one of four opponents to go the full distance against Pacheco among his 21 fights, it’s still hard not to be impressed with what the young Mexican-American fighter has done up to this point.

Diego Pacheco comes into this fight as the prohibitive -1200 favorite (even lined as high as -1400 at some prominent books), with Maciej Sulecki coming back as a +800 underdog.

Pacheco A Serious Force At 168

Coming in at a rangy 6’4” with a 79” reach as well, it’s fair to say that most opponents standing across from Diego Pacheco in the ring understand that they’re already at a huge disadvantage in the fight before the first bell has even been rung.

However, it’s not just physical attributes that make Diego Pacheco such a dangerous fighter in the ring, it’s also the fact he marries those natural advantages with serious two-handed power and excellent timing and range as well.

Sulecki Intent On One Last Title Run

After falling short in his only major world title shot back in 2019 when he took on then-WBO champion Demetrius Andrade, most observers were nevertheless impressed with Sulecki’s durability in that fight as, despite being majorly outgunned throughout and surviving a first-round knockdown, he eventually worked his way back into the fight to see out a lopsided decision.

At 35 years of age, and with previous fights against Gabe Rosado and Daniel Jacobs to boot, Sulecki certainly has the experience to give the young prospect some rounds this weekend, and even trouble him should he become overly reckless.

Diego Pacheco vs Maciej Sulecki Expert Prediction

While a lot of people were quick to criticize Diego Pacheco’s last performance against Shawn McCalman earlier this year, many observers simply didn’t factor in McCalman’s almost freakish athleticism in that fight, being able to jump inside and outside of the pocket at will, and therefore effectively nullify Pacheco’s favored sledgehammer right hand as a result.

However, the adjustments Pacheco was able to make in the second half of that fight showed why he’s so highly regarded in boxing, especially at just 23 years of age, being able to adapt to McCalman’s own range technique, and punishing him more and more as the fight wore on for every time McCalman crashed the pocket.

Maciej Sulecki has none of that same athleticism that McCalman brought to the table however, and is basically there to be hit at this stage.

As tough as he no doubt is, that’s a terrible recipe against a fighter who hits as hard as Diego Pacheco does, and as a result, we see this one ending early on Saturday.
