Janibek Alimkhanuly vs Andrei Mikhailovich Betting Analysis

Unified middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly steps through the ropes once again on Saturday to defend his belts against tough, undefeated contender Andrei Mikhailovich over in Las Vegas this weekend live on ESPN+.

Janibek, who remains one of the most avoided middleweights in recent history, has continued to call out the other champions in his division, most notably Carlos Adames and Erislandy Lara, but to little avail, as neither fighter has been tempted into a high-stakes unification clash against the Kazakh boxer.

That has allowed IBF top contender Andrei Mikhailovich to have his shot against Alimkhanuly, and the Russian-born New Zealander is determined to make the most of that opportunity.

Janibek Alimkhanuly comes into this one as the prohibitive -1600 favorite, with Andrei Mikhailovich coming back as a +900 underdog at most books.

Janibek Arguably Not Getting The Plaudits He Deserves

Multiple-time amateur gold medalist Janibek Alimkhanuly arguably hasn’t got the plaudits he deserves across his pro career so far, despite amassing an impressive 15-0 record with 10 knockouts, along with a unified middleweight championship to boot.

That’s largely down to the fact that the middleweight division is at its lowest ebb in a number of years, with fighters such as Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin, Jermall Charlo, and Demetrius Andrade (should he fail to come back down), all exiting the division for various reasons over the last couple of years.

That’s left Janibek without a serious dance partner in the division, with the other champions continuing to avoid him, so it’ll be interesting to see what ‘Qazaq Style’ does moving forward in pursuit of that legacy-defining fight.

Hard Upbringing Has Prepared Mikhailovich For This Title Shot

After being born and partially raised in an orphanage in Saint Petersburg in post-Soviet Russia, it’s understandable that Andrei Mikhailovich views Saturday’s contest against the middleweight king as no big deal.

Brought up and raised by adopted parents in Auckland, New Zealand, Mikhailovich stated in recent interviews that he learned to fight on both the streets of Auckland and against his twin brother also, who was adopted alongside him from his native Russia.

From there it’s been an uphill battle for Mikhailovich, suffering his fair share of drama in fights as well, such as his early knockdown in his fight against Edisson Saltarin last year, but he’s stated that adversity such as that has only made him more ready and focused for this fight.

Janibek Alimkhanuly vs Andrei Mikhailovich Expert Prediction

Janibek has tremendous power with both hands, utilizing accuracy and timing to make the most of the power he has as well.

Only one of his last nine opponents has managed to see the final bell against him, and that was the ever-tough Denzel Bentley, a fighter who’s as grizzled as they come.

The question in this one remains is Andrei Mikhailovich also on that same toughness grade, as he’s certainly not going to outbox a fighter as technically proficient as Janibek is.

Janibek is relentless in the ring, especially once he gets the range down, putting a very good Steven Butler down three times in their fight last year, and with this being Mikhailovich’s first fight outside of his home country of New Zealand as well, along with the fact that he was down early against Saltarin also, engaging in an all-out war in that one, it’s hard to see if he does that here against Janibek that he’s going to come out on the right side of the result.

Look for Janibek to win this one inside the distance on Saturday against Mikhailovich over in Las Vegas.
